Monument of King Mengrai the Great, Chiang Rai Province

King Mengrai the Great was the first king of the Mangrai Dynasty and united the small towns into the Lanna Thai Kingdom, which has flourished to this day. The people of Chiang Rai have therefore joined together to build a monument to commemorate the honor of King Mengrai. Currently, the King Mengrai the Great Monument is a landmark of Chiang Rai that both Thai and foreign tourists must stop by to pay homage at least once. There are vendors selling garlands here. We can buy them and bring them to pay homage, but if we want to make a vow or offer food, we must bring our own. 📍 The King Mengrai the Great Monument is located at the Pho Khun Intersection in the heart of Chiang Rai. There is no parking lot. We have to park on the side of the road and walk across.
