Dragons at Caerphilly Castle

Where: Caerphilly, Wales UK When: July 2017 Wales is know for its historic castles and strongholds and while most are in ruins there is something magical about stepping on to the land where these majestic towers once stood. Some castles have more of the structures still standing than others but each still manages to tell a story of old (even if you have to use a little imagination to picture it). Caerphilly Castle still has a number of walls still standing, some showing the various levels and floors that stood 3-4 stories high. And there are still plenty of turrets and chambers you can climb around which is what we did one glorious afternoon in July 2017. This particular trip was made even more special by some visiting Welsh dragons Dewi & Dwynwen. At the time of our visit the Dragons were only in Caerphilly for a holiday but it appears that they have made the castle their personal lair. We very much enjoyed the tale of their love story on our visit and are glad to see they are still around. This is a perfect mix Fantasy and History and I can not wait to visit again. #gooutside
