The inconspicuous old cathedral next to the cathedral

Andalucia Tour ~ Cadiz The Santa Cruz Church, also known as the Old Cathedral of Cadiz, dates back to 1262-1263 and was rebuilt in the 17th century in Mannerist and Baroque styles. Unfortunately for King Alfonso, the Gothic building was destroyed by the Anglo-Dutch troops who attacked and sacked Cadiz in 1596. It was considered a cathedral until 1838, when the city’s cathedral was transferred to Sé Nova. From that date in 1838 it was considered merely a parish church; nevertheless the architectural style was varied, although its Gothic imprint had not disappeared.
