An Abandoned Village in Kyrgyzstan: Would You Stay the Night?

We spent the night in the abandoned village of Enilchek in Kyrgyzstan with a local family. The house is perched high in the mountains. At night, when the birds fell silent, you could hear one group of animals eating another. With a crunch, endlessly. The nearest neighbor lives three kilometers away, and no one has seen him for a long time. Maybe "lived" is the right word to use in the past tense. In such seclusion, you start talking to flies and household items. After a week, you begin to appreciate people again, as there are so few of them here. Almost all the people from here left a long time ago, so the basketball hoop stands overgrown with shrubs, and most of the houses where families once lived have been dismantled into bricks because people here have so little money.
