Dragon Boat Festival Festivities | Traditional Elegance at Beijing Dongjingyuan

This year's Dragon Boat Festival, Beijing Dongjingyuan is a must-visit destination. From May 31 to June 2, the Beijing Folk Museum will host a series of cultural activities at Dongjingyuan, offering an immersive experience of the festival's charm. At the Zhandaimen Square, you can explore a recreated Dragon Boat Festival scene featuring artifacts, Zhong Kui statues, and seasonal items. Visitors can also receive free "longevity threads" woven from five-colored silk, symbolizing blessings and good fortune. Inside the museum, there are hands-on activities such as making mugwort bouquets, sachets, and wellness hammers, as well as fan-making workshops to experience the traditional custom of gifting and crafting fans during the festival. Children can participate in the "Draw the Tiger King" activity, where staff use realgar wine to draw the character "王" (king) on their foreheads, symbolizing health and safety. Additionally, various vibrant events will be held across Beijing's Dongcheng District during the Dragon Boat Festival. For instance, the "Trendy Zong Summer" 2024 Chaoyang District Dragon Boat Festival International Cultural Exchange Experience, organized by the district's New Era Civilization Practice Center, invites foreign friends to the Beijing Ceramic Art Museum to appreciate the charm of traditional Chinese culture and promote cultural exchange. The district's cultural center will also host the "Early Summer Treasures" Chaoyang District Intangible Cultural Heritage Interactive Market, featuring six sections and 44 activities, providing a rich Dragon Boat Festival experience for all.
