Dragon Boat Festival Gathering at Dajue Temple

Dajue Temple in Beijing is a wonderful destination for the Dragon Boat Festival. Established during the Liao Dynasty, this thousand-year-old temple boasts a grand scale, with its architecture facing west and built along the mountain. The layout is divided into three routes, and the Buddhist halls are majestic and ancient. The temple is home to the 'Eight Wonders,' including the fragrance of ancient orchids, a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree, and an old vine entwined with cypress, all of which can be explored. Within the temple, you’ll find babbling springs, towering ancient trees, and elegant magnolias, creating a tranquil and refined environment. Known as one of Beijing's three major flower temples, Dajue Temple offers a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle, allowing visitors to experience its serene and harmonious atmosphere. The temple also houses a Shaoxing restaurant where you can savor Shaoxing yellow wine and specialty dishes, with an average cost of about 60 RMB per person. If you prefer not to dine at the temple, you can enjoy delicacies like free-range eggs in nearby Caofang Village or Beianhe Village. Additionally, the surrounding natural scenery is stunning, and you might even spot squirrels and other small animals. Not far from the temple, you can explore scenic spots like Jiufeng and Yangtai Mountain to further immerse yourself in nature's beauty. During the Dragon Boat Festival, Dajue Temple remains open as usual, with an entrance fee of 20 RMB per person. Opening hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitors can take bus route 633 to Dajue Temple Station or drive via the Jingzang Expressway, exiting at Beianhe and turning left. Follow Beiqing Road to its end, then turn south and follow the signs to reach the temple.
