The magnolias of Leshoutang in the Summer Palace are in full bloom, creating one of the most beautiful scenes in Beijing. Legend has it that the magnolia trees in Leshoutang were transplanted from southern China by Emperor Qianlong over 200 years ago. These trees include both purple and white magnolias. The purple magnolias are located behind the Leshoutang Hall, while the white magnolias are situated south of the Yaoyue Gate at the east entrance of the Long Corridor. Every year around March 20th, the magnolias bloom for about a week. The white magnolia petals are as pure as jade, while the purple ones resemble rosy clouds. Together with the ancient architecture, they create a breathtakingly beautiful scene.
