"Glorious Colors" - Summer Palace Collection of Colored Glaze Porcelain Exhibition

🏮Porcelain is a great invention and spiritual carrier of the Chinese nation, containing the emotions and wisdom of the Chinese people that have been passed down through the generations, and carrying the unique cultural memory of the Chinese people. Colored glaze porcelain refers to porcelain that has been fired with a base glaze containing coloring metal elements, resulting in a porcelain with a specific color. As an important type of Chinese porcelain, it has been developed over thousands of years, reaching its peak during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a wide variety of glaze colors and extraordinary achievements. 🏮The Summer Palace has a collection of more than 3,500 pieces of colored glaze porcelain, mainly from the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as some Longquan kiln products from the Yuan and Ming dynasties. This exhibition features more than 100 pieces of porcelain, with a wide variety and excellent quality, and is the first time that the Summer Palace's collection of colored glaze porcelain has been displayed in one place, showcasing the colorful and profound philosophy of ancient Chinese porcelain. 🏮The most spectacular piece in the exhibition is the Yuan dynasty blue glaze white dragon pattern plum vase, of which only three are known to exist, in the Guimet Museum in France, the Yangzhou Museum, and the Summer Palace. The Yuan dynasty blue glaze white dragon pattern plum vase is a representative of the highest level of Yuan dynasty porcelain. Its craftsmanship and decoration are exquisite, with a blue glaze on the body of the vase, a thick and lustrous glaze, and a rich color. The belly of the vase is decorated with a white dragon pattern, with a striking contrast between the blue and white. 🏮The exhibition is held at the Summer Palace Museum, located at 19 Xinjian Gongmen Road, Haidian District, Beijing. 🚗You can take bus 74 or 374 to get there.
