Taimiao Temple - A must-see before visiting the Forbidden City

Located on the east side of the Forbidden City, Taimiao Temple was built in the 18th year of the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. It was a place for the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties to worship their ancestors. Taimiao Temple has far fewer visitors than the Forbidden City, and the rare tranquility makes it a great place to take photos. The architectural style and cultural relics of Taimiao Temple are no less impressive than those of the Forbidden City, and it is well worth a visit. To visit Taimiao Temple, take Metro Line 1 to Tiananmen East Station, and take Exit B to see Nanchizi Street. Walk along Nanchizi Street for about 10 minutes to reach the entrance of Taimiao Park - the Beijing Working People's Cultural Palace. No reservation is required for the visit, and tickets can be purchased on-site for CNY 2. No ID is required to buy tickets, but you will need to show your ID for security checks at the entrance to the park. After entering the park, remember to turn left to visit Taimiao Temple. Many visitors turn right to pass through the park to visit the Forbidden City. After entering the park, you can reach the Jimen Gate of Taimiao Temple after about a five-minute walk. It is recommended to spend about an hour visiting Taimiao Temple. After the visit, you can exit the park through the west gate to reach the entrance to the Meridian Gate Square of the Forbidden City.
