"Horst: Master of Fashion Photography Exhibition".

Horst is one of the most important photographers of the 20th century, a master of light and shadow, composition and atmosphere. He is famous for shooting women's fashion, but also for his interior architecture, still life, especially plant and environmental portraits. In addition, his works often reflect his interest in supermodernist art and his tribute to the beauty of the ancient Greek body. Horst was born in Weissenfels, Germany in 1906, originally named Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann. He studied design and woodworking under the guidance of Walter Gropius, the founder of the Bauhaus School. He went to Paris in 1930 and became an apprentice of architect Le Corbusier. In Paris, he met George Hoyningen-Huene, the star photographer of French Vogue magazine. Huene became Horst's mentor and invited him into the creative world of Paris in the 1930s. He immigrated to the United States in 1943 and changed his surname from "Bohrmann" to "Horst". After the war, he built a house in Long Island, New York, and spent the rest of his life in the United States. Horst's photos are elegant and calm. He renders the picture from various dimensions such as light and shadow, composition and atmosphere. Thanks to his outstanding cultivation in the art world, he draws inspiration from different aesthetics. At the same time, he pays attention to the structure of the human body itself. When the model is in the picture, he constructs a endless image language. This exhibition is divided into five themes: haute couture, supermodernism, stage and screen, color fashion, and lifestyle, describing the luxury of haute couture in pre-war Paris to the rise of ready-to-wear in post-war New York.
