Wat Traimitr Withayaram: A Sanctuary of the Golden Buddha

🙏 Wat Traimitr Withayaram Worawihan, a second-class royal monastery, was built during the Rattanakosin period. Originally named Wat Sam Chin, it was constructed by three Chinese individuals. Notable attractions within the temple include: 🛕 The Great Mandapa of the Golden Buddha houses the Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon (Golden Buddha), a revered statue made of a significant amount of gold, known as 'seven parts gold, two parts alloy' (an ancient gold standard). The statue measures 6 cubits and 5 inches wide, and 7 cubits, 1 span, and 9 inches tall. 🙏 The Sukhothai Traimit Buddha, named Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon by King Rama IX in 1992, is in the Mara Vichai posture, showcasing Sukhothai art. Originally covered in plaster since the Ayutthaya period, the gold beneath was revealed when the plaster cracked. This valuable and beautiful statue is over 700 years old. 🏰 The Ubosot, built in 1946, is a reinforced concrete structure with a four-gabled roof and two-tiered eaves. The gables are adorned with stucco images of Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma, gilded and inlaid with glass. The ceiling is decorated with gilded metal stars and glass. 🏰 The interior walls below the window sills are dark polished stone with Thai patterns. The door and window frames are decorated with stucco in a rounded arch shape, topped with intricate floral designs. The doors and windows feature traditional Thai lacquer and gold leaf patterns, with guardian figures painted on them. The front terrace of the Ubosot has a four-gabled pavilion with boundary markers at each corner. 🙏 The Phra Phuttha Thosaphon Yan (Luang Pho To Wat Sam Chin or Luang Pho Wat Sam Chin), the principal Buddha image in the Ubosot, is a stucco statue covered in lacquer and gold leaf in the Mara Vichai posture. 🏰 The Vihara is a two-story reinforced concrete building with a four-gabled roof and stucco decorations on the gables, surrounded by smaller pavilions. 🏰 The Lion-footed Golden Pulpit, praised by King Rama V for its beautiful Buddha image, is a notable feature of the Ubosot. 🛕 The Bell Tower is a reinforced concrete structure with a three-gabled roof topped with a spire. 🏢 The Yaowarat History Center is open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
