It was beautiful enough just by looking at the photos, but the moment I saw it in person, the emotion was truly indescribable. This mosque is located in the center of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, and it was amazing that there was such a peaceful and magnificent space in the middle of the city. When I first saw the mosque, my eyes were naturally drawn to the white and clean exterior walls and the huge golden dome shining in the sunlight. It was truly an overwhelming beauty. The mosque was surrounded by an artificial lake, so it looked like it was floating on water. In particular, the traditional Brunei boat-shaped structure floating on the lake added an exotic atmosphere and was a great place to take pictures. I still vividly remember the scene where the mosque was reflected on the lake like a mirror. 😃 Before entering the building, you had to take off your shoes and wear long clothes or rent a robe. There were many foreign visitors, but they were all quiet and polite, and thanks to that, I could fully feel the pious atmosphere inside the mosque. The interior was even more splendid and neat. The marble floor, large chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and intricately carved wall decorations were eye-catching. The symmetry and patterns unique to Islamic architecture were really impressive, and I could feel the artistic beauty of the religious space. After touring the mosque, I took a leisurely walk around the surrounding garden. The flowers and trees were well-organized, so it was nice to sit down for a while and enjoy the scenery, and I had a really peaceful time with the sound of the adhan coming from afar. It felt like I was in a sacred space where my heart was purified rather than a tourist attraction!! I can confidently say that this is a must-see attraction when you go to Brunei. It was a precious experience where I could experience the country's culture, religion, and spiritual atmosphere beyond simply seeing beautiful architecture.
