Lake Namtso, meaning "heavenly lake" in Tibetan, is the highest of the three sacred lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the highest saltwater lake in the world. Legend has it that the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain God is one of the nine creator gods, and his wife is Lake Namtso. The sacred Tashi Dor is where they held their wedding, a sacred place that witnessed their eternal love. They are still together today. The Three Holy Stones (Three Protectors) are the incarnations of the three bodhisattvas of Tantric Buddhism: Manjushri, Guanyin, and Vajrapani.
