Taiwanese Traveling in Xinjiang: The Asian Crossroads of the Pamir Plateau

The Pamir Plateau, its name both beautiful and unfamiliar. This was a must-visit on my trip to Xinjiang and also a challenge to test my adaptability to the plateau environment. The Pamir Plateau reaches altitudes of 4000-5000 meters. As for Muztagh Ata, we didn’t go due to the team leader’s health condition, which was quite a pity. Whether it was the distinctly layered White Sand Lake, Karakul Lake beneath the snow-capped mountains, the Tahaman Wetland missed during its lush season, arriving at the Wakhan Corridor at the Pamir crossroads, walking the Panlong Ancient Trail with over 600 bends, or experiencing the tranquil Bandir Blue Lake in person— I truly traveled from the southeast to the northwest, and to such high places. Although my body struggled to adapt, the stunning scenery really amazed me. I’m so glad I came.
