Ethiopia Dallol Volcano

Dallol Volcano is a scoria cone volcano located in the Danakil Desert, Afar Region, northeastern Ethiopia, in the northeastern part of the Erta Ale Range. It is situated in the northern part of Ethiopia, near the border with Eritrea, in the Danakil Desert, which is often referred to as the 'hottest place on Earth.' The volcano features a crater-like formation called a maar, created by explosive eruptions. During the Miocene epoch, basaltic magma intruded into salt deposits, and subsequent hydrothermal activity formed the unique landscape. Dallol Volcano is known for its vibrant, otherworldly scenery, with green acidic pools and colorful mineral deposits of sulfur, salt, and potassium, creating a surreal environment that seems almost alien.
