Family-Friendly Racing Getaway

We've previously stayed at other resorts on Yas Island and in Abu Dhabi, such as Hilton Yas Island and Conrad Abu Dhabi, but since our daughters are avid Formula 1 fans, we decided to try the W. Check-in was prompt and hassle-free, and we were quickly settled into our room. We opted for a room with a view of the racetrack, which was definitely worth the extra upgrade fee. Breakfast at 'The Garage' was both tasty and busy! We also enjoyed several evening meals at the hotel where the food and service consistently deserved 5 stars. Both swimming pools (Family - Sun Deck & Adults Only - Wet Deck) were fantastic although slightly small. The complimentary sun lotion was a thoughtful bonus! Despite the near perfection of the hotel, two aspects fell short - the rooms appear a bit worn and could use an update, but the more significant issue is the allowance of smoking around the family pools, which seems unreasonable - why is smoking permitted near children at a 5-star resort? Even though the pool is outdoors, the smoke lingers at pool level because of the canopy. The W should really take action on this. Aside from these concerns, the W is certainly an excellent hotel in a prime location.
