Guo Yu Old Town (郭峪古城) is located in Jincheng, Shanxi Province, China. Accessible by private car or bus, it it located almost directly opposite the House of the Huangcheng Chancellor. Cross the small square and you can buy tickets at the front gate. Once inside, you will be lost in a maze of small courtyards and alleys, decorated with beautifully-colorer umbrellas...providing a perfect backdrop for taking photos. The architecture is old and charming and walk to the back to see the impressive tower for a close-up photo. It is quiet here during the daytime because this place comes to life at night, where it is lit up and many tourists come to witness the pretty spectacle. The famous House of the Huangcheng Chancellor (皇城相府-总宪府) is located near to to the city of Jincheng in northern China's Shanxi Province. This place can be reached by car or bus and the best time to visit is Spring or Summer, as the warm sunshine allows for good photo conditions. Tour guides are available at the front gate, along with maps and souvenirs. The place itself is fantastic for exploring, as there are numerous small alleyways and courtyards. You can also go inside the many buildings and see the beautiful relics and artefacts. The architecture is stunning and mysterious at the same time. Climb to the upper terrrace to see the wonderful tower and a panorama of the surrounding countryside. Runcheng Dongyue Temple is not far from Dibo City, hidden in the old street in the center of Runcheng Town. There are too many Dong Yue Temples in Shanxi, and this one seems to be very low-key, but in fact it is a landmark building in Runcheng, and it still has an original structure from the Jin Dynasty. Sanmen Street near Dili City is very charming, and it is a legacy from the old times, full of human touch. Dongyue Temple faces Sanmen Street. When we went there, the gate was open and we went straight in. Although it is not large and there are not many people, it gives me a spacious and warm feeling. Perhaps the Emperor Dongyue here likes this residence very much. Runcheng Dongyue Temple was first built during the Dading period of the Jin Dynasty. However, except for the Daqi Hall, which is an original structure from the Jin Dynasty, most of the existing buildings are from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The architectural layout of the Daqi Hall is consistent with the Jin Dynasty relics seen before, but the details are very eye-catching, especially the parts that were renovated in the Ming Dynasty. From a distance, you will be attracted by its glazed roof. Although not as large as the one in Jiexiu, Yangcheng was a famous colored glaze production area in the old days. When the Daqi Hall was restored in the Ming Dynasty, more exquisite and colorful colored glaze components were used to increase the charm of the Daqi Hall. What I like most are its colored glaze wind-blown and suspended fish, which are grand and vivid, and the four-clawed dragon seems to be about to jump out of the roof and fly away at any time. The little man on the roof steps on the glazed tiles, as if he is showing off his majesty to intimidate those coming from below. It is funny and cute. As you walk into the Xianting, you can't miss its caisson as long as you look up. The octagonal caisson is made up of two layers of cantilevered brackets. In the middle, flame-shaped wooden strips are used to create exquisite patterns. There are lotus hammers and elephant-shaped eaves around it for decoration. Although there are no heavy paintings, it just highlights the ingenuity of the pure wooden structure. The three unique features of the Daqi Hall are the glazed caisson and the stone carvings. The auspicious beasts on the stone railings are lifelike, and the Yunlong Imperial Road is full of domineering power. It is said that the five statues of gods in the Daqi Hall are worth seeing. Unfortunately, the hall was not open when I went there. Fortunately, there are many delicious foods on Sanmen Street. [Grin]

Before going to the Imperial City Prime Minister's Residence, we followed our annual pass and stopped by Dijicheng. Early in the morning, there weren't many people, and it was so cool to stroll around the small castle with just our family of three ⊙▽⊙ The name Dijicheng is quite interesting, sounding like a mysterious city from a martial arts film. It turns out that "Ji" refers to the Qin River, formerly known as the Ji River, and "Di" refers to the fact that Dijicheng was built on a natural whetstone by the Qin River, surrounded by water on three sides. The name of the city is actually its geographical location. However, there is another saying that it means to resist flooding and protect the people. It's impossible to verify when Dijicheng was founded. However, the outline of its city walls existed at least during the Song Dynasty, and its defense system was perfected by the late Ming Dynasty. Its city walls are very unique. At first glance, they appear honeycomb-shaped. A closer look reveals that these wall bricks are covered with blue bricks on the outside, while the inside is a mixture of iron-smelting crucibles and stone strips, making them quite resistant to attacks. Moreover, the city walls are fully equipped with defensive facilities, such as artillery platforms, watchtowers, and hidden soldier caves, giving the entire wall sufficient confidence to resist foreign enemies. Dijicheng also has land gates and water gates, corresponding to vehicle and boat passages, respectively. It is said that during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Li Zicheng's peasant army attacked Dijicheng many times but failed to conquer it. Later, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese army also attempted to invade Dijicheng, but they also returned without success. The city walls of Dijicheng were like an impenetrable fortress, protecting the city's residents. Of course, even if they had invaded, they might not have been able to claim victory. This is because the interior of Dijicheng is like a maze. Its streets and alleys are not only narrow but also mostly T-shaped, leading in all directions yet easily disorienting. This layout was not only unfavorable for enemy attacks but also allowed the city's residents to quickly move or counterattack through the aisles and over-street buildings between courtyards. It's not an exaggeration to say that Dijicheng was a marvel of attack and defense in the era of cold weapons. In addition, Dijicheng is not only known for its martial prowess but also for its cultural achievements, having produced many famous figures. The most famous is the Qing Dynasty mathematician Zhang Dunren, and another is Guo Zhang, the main developer of the "Manchu Han Imperial Feast." To Yangcheng to see the Shousheng Temple Glazed Pagoda, when I arrived it was already five o'clock, I thought I guess I can't see it, I didn't expect to meet the grandfather at the entrance of the temple, smiling and asking what we came to see, I said I wanted to see the Glazed Pagoda, he said so quickly up to see it, then the grandfather rode a little sheep a ride of dust, disappeared into the sunset. Climbing up the small hill, an old woman is drying vegetables at the door, the gate of Shousheng Temple is open, there is no one in the small temple, just like an ordinary village temple. But the glazed pagoda standing in the temple proves the unusualness here. Shousheng Temple, built in the Later Tang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, was destroyed by war during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt by Facheng and other monks during the Tianxi period, and in the fourth year of Zhiping, it was granted the "Shousheng Zen Temple" by Song Yingzong. During the Ming Dynasty, the temple underwent several renovations. Among the existing buildings, except for the front hall, which is a Ming Dynasty relic, the rest are mostly Qing Dynasty buildings. The glazed pagoda in the temple is considered a treasure. It was built in the 36th year of the Ming Dynasty. It has 10-level octagonal steps and is 27.8 meters high. The tower body uses black, yellow, purple, ink green, peacock blue and other colors of colored glaze. There are 177 glazed reliefs and more than 480 glazed statues. The most distinctive feature is that each floor has a different Buddhist story theme, including Galan Protector, Twenty-Four Heavens, Shakyamuni Dharma, Buddhist Holy Land, Eggplant Purple Glazed, Green Scripture Glazed, Taoist Thirty-Three Days Listening, Buddha Speaks Amitabha Sutra and two floors of Thousand Buddhas. The Shousheng Temple Glazed Pagoda was built by the local famous glazing craftsman Qiao Yongfeng and his sons Qiao Changzheng and Qiao Changyuan in Yangcheng County. Only by being in the Shousheng Temple can one realize the golden content of this glazed pagoda, which seems to have lit up the whole old and dim temple with itself. Though upon closer inspection, it was distressingly mutilated. There are so many incomplete images of the Bodhisattva, who at first glance are disappearing Buddha heads, or have experienced theft, or have experienced man-made destruction in a special age, I cannot even imagine how sad the hearts of those who once built it and those who expected it to be built, who to blame? And it seems no one can blame, this mood is the most frustrating! The glazed pagoda of Keshou Shengji Temple is extremely beautiful even though it is scarred. The brilliance that has not been washed away by time, because the remaining white left by the damage, gives the viewer enough space for the imagination, those expressions, the headdress, must be so vivid that it is eye-catching. Hopefully one day this mutilated glazed pagoda can be restored to some extent, although it will definitely not regain its original appearance, but it may bring a little comfort.

The first time I saw the Glazed Hanging Pavilion Pagoda at Haihui Temple, I was captivated by its exquisite glazed decorations. Although I had previously been amazed by the Feihong Pagoda at Guangsheng Temple in Hongtong County, the two pagodas each have their own unique charm. Standing on the stone path, you can see the Glazed Hanging Pavilion Pagoda and the Sarira Pagoda standing side by side, one tall and one short, from a distance. They accompany each other, quietly observing the changing seasons and the blooming and falling of flowers. The construction of this Glazed Hanging Pavilion Pagoda dates back to the 40th year of the Jiajing reign in the Ming Dynasty. The pagoda has an octagonal shape with thirteen tiers and stands approximately 40 meters tall. A flat terrace was built at the tenth tier and is supported by eight groups of eaves pillars. From afar, it looks like a pavilion in the air. This tier also incorporates many glazed decorative components and is praised by experts and scholars as a "classic representative of Chinese pavilion-style pagodas." It is said that the essence of all world-renowned cathedrals lies in their towering domes, as in Western religions, getting as close as possible to God's height is the way to receive divine protection. Therefore, height is one of the important criteria for the construction of many ancient Western buildings. When I saw the Glazed Hanging Pavilion Pagoda, its towering presence, seemingly reaching for the sky, made me wonder if the emperor who ordered its construction was also expressing his desire to question the heavens.
