#MarchGoodPlaces2025
The first time I saw the White Windmill Village, it reminded me of Bonoi's Windmill on the hill of Mykonos in Greece. The White Windmill Village is located in the La Mancha region of Consuegra in Spain. The windmill was a tool used by farmers at that time to use wind power to drive the windmill to grind crops such as corn and wheat. There are 11 windmills on the hill, and each windmill has its own unique name. Today, the windmill only serves as a place for tourists to take photos and check in, but the interior of the windmill is open to the public. Looking out from the windmill window, you can see the olive trees planted in the La Mancha region. There are no buildings to admire on the hill except the windmill.

Probably the best place the see almost all the town or #toledo is the road just 1km southern of the center. Toledo is the old capital of the kingdom of #spain and it is located on a short drive from the nowadays capital - Madrid. It is an #ancient town and is really authentical and beautiful place that everyone who goes to the area should visit. I really enjoyed my walk around the town, but the best experience for me was this view in just 1km away.

This is a typical La Mancha square. It looks like the town in Don Quixote.
Spain's Central Plateau Rampage ~ Toledo (Greater Region)
This La Mancha Square is so cool! Once you arrive, it's like you've entered the town of Don Quixote's novel for a second🎠. The square is located in the center of the old city, the sense of history is so strong that it can't be melted away, the simple design is super beautiful, with the holiday atmosphere is really chill! 😎
It’s a bit different from the typical Castile main square, with flanking arcades on all sides for a more unique feel. Walk to the square town hall and the church next door to check in. There are also small bars and specialty shops around. You can walk slowly, hea and have a drink🥂, feel the sunshine and local vibe!
There are also market stalls during the holidays. There are many things selling all over the place. You can find all kinds of gadgets and handicrafts. If you like slow life, you will definitely go!

Unparalleled photography environment.
A journey through the Spanish Central Plateau ~ Toledo (region)
The ruins of the castle captivated me both during the day and at night. To reach this almost abandoned town, you have to pass through farmland. The castle, built in the 15th century, is in a dilapidated state and on the verge of disappearing, making it a must-visit for those who love abandoned places. Surrounded by fields and free from light pollution, it is an excellent spot for nighttime photography, located less than an hour and a half from Madrid.
This town has great economic potential and its founding dates back to Roman times.
Spanish Central Plateau Adventure ~ Toledo (Region)
The main monument here is the 16th-century Collegiate Church of Santa Sacramento, with its magnificent facade and stunning high altarpiece. Another interesting building is the Franciscan Monastery, declared a monument in 1981. Built on the site of the 14th-century palace of King Pedro I of Castile, it consists of a double-aisled structure surrounded by a palace and church. Also noteworthy is La Caridad, or the Hospital of Santísima Trinidad, a 16th-century Renaissance building, which houses the Chapel of the Holy Blood of Christ.

The monastery was our favorite attraction to visit in Toledo
Spanish Central Plateau Adventure ~ Toledo (Region)
Next to the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, specifically on San Martín Hill, we found the Palacio de Cava, also known as the Palace of the Dukes of Maqueda. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it boasts a beautiful palace. Among the surviving remains, its portico, with its 14th- and 15th-century defensive elements, stands out as a unique example of the Mudéjar style. As it's private property, the interior isn't accessible, but the exterior alone is worth a visit. In front is a statue of Isabel la Católica.

The Casa del Judío, the only Jewish baths in the city that can be visited, is located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter of Toledo, Castile-La Mancha, Spain.
A Trip to Spain's Central Highlands ~ Toledo (Region)
It was built in the 14th and 15th centuries. The two most interesting areas are the courtyard, which preserves a wealth of stucco (carved plasterwork), and the crypt, which may have served as a Jewish ritual bath or mikveh, used for spiritual purification and preparation for important events in Jewish life. During the restoration of adjacent rooms, Almagra-style hydraulic plasterwork and a cistern were discovered, supporting the theory of its use.

Toledo's Sunset Panorama: A Must-See Experience
Exploring the Central Plateau of Spain ~ Toledo (Region)
This spot, located outside the city of Toledo on a hill by the Tagus River (Río Tajo), is a place rich in historical relics where you can feel a strong cultural atmosphere.
Climbing the hill is worth it. It takes about 10 minutes to ascend easily. Besides the archaeological remains, you can also enjoy the impressive views of Toledo. If you're a bit adventurous and not afraid of heights, you can sit on the rocks overlooking the cliff—it's an unparalleled experience. The sunset is stunning!
Exploring the Ancient Roman Aqueduct Bridge in Toledo
A Journey Through the Central Plateau of Spain ~ Toledo (Region)
Though only remnants remain, they reveal that this was once a city ahead of its time. The ruins of the Roman aqueduct show how water was transported from the Guajaraz River dam, located over 38 kilometers away in the mountains, to supply the city of Toledo. Part of the aqueduct consisted of a three-tiered arched bridge. Unfortunately, today only a few arches remain on the slopes of the Tagus River, but they are enough to give us a sense of how impressive its length and height must have been.
Sunset Over the Ancient Castle: Witnessing the Marks of Time
Exploring the Central Plateau of Spain ~ Toledo (Region)
This is a small but historically rich castle. There are several options for visiting: €6 for the castle tour, €7 for the castle and mill tour, and €8 for a guided tour. The castle is well-preserved, and the visit doesn't take too long. At a normal pace, it takes about an hour, especially if you enjoy taking your time to read and learn about its history. The surrounding environment is stunning, and the addition of the mill makes it even more picturesque. I arrived at the last moment, just in time to catch the beautiful sunset. Highly recommended for a visit!

If you want to feel like Don Quixote, come here!
Exploring the Spanish Central Plateau ~ Toledo (Region)
A great place for walking and photography, visitors can enjoy stunning views of castles, the town of Consuegra, windmills, and the surrounding plains.
The mill factory is quite large, featuring seven mills, two of which house boutique shops selling clothes, bags, and hats. One shop charges an entrance fee of €1.5, while the other is free to enter. You can climb the stairs to the top to see the inner workings and mechanisms of the mills. Here, you can take in breathtaking views, feel the breeze, and capture amazing photos.

A Ride in Spain's Central Highlands ~ Toledo (Region)
Located at the foot of the Calderico ridge, it boasts a majestic castle with a magnificent donjon and several typical La Mancha windmills. Five of the twelve windmills retain their mechanisms, including one known as "Sancho" (named after one of the protagonists in the novel "Don Quixote").
Other treasures of Consuegra include the Town Hall; the Corredores, home to the Municipal Museum; the Casa de Telcha; the Church of San Juan; and the Church of San Cristo de Veracruz, a museum dedicated to offerings. This fortress was built during the early years of the Reconquista. During the reign of King Alfonso VIII, it was ceded to the brotherhood that founded the Grand Monastery of La Mancha. It boasts double walls and several towers. Consuegra's Renaissance-style Town Hall is located in the Plaza de España, where houses have wooden balconies.

I recommend you who like history and humanities to come and take a walk
Spain's Central Plateau Rampage ~ Toledo (Greater Region)
This 18th century Baroque style palace (Palacio de Las Torres) is really beautiful! ✨After Mayor Square and Tumblek Windmill, it is definitely one of the must-see attractions. Unfortunately, the palace is now closed and turned into ruins. You can only look outside and take a beautiful photo from a distance!
Although you can't go in and feel the splendor, just stand in front of the main entrance and you will be really shocked by its grand appearance. Take a picture, it feels like time is still! 😮
If you’re looking for an in-depth tour of Spain in September, the Castile-La Mancha area is quite recommended, taking you deep into the cultural history of the province of Toledo.

Sunset Windmill: A Must-Visit Spot
This location is perfectly situated near a town called "Tembleque." It is a popular destination throughout the day, attracting many visitors. The windmill cluster is of medium size, but everything is well-organized and preserved in its original state and location, which I truly appreciate. However, since these windmills are no longer operational, public access is restricted. Only maintenance personnel are allowed to enter to ensure they remain in good condition. As a result, the windmills are kept very clean and are regularly maintained.
This spot also serves as a great viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside and the town of "Tembleque." At night, two of the windmills are illuminated with spotlights, allowing visitors to enjoy their beauty even after sunset. I particularly love this feature as it makes the site accessible at any time of the day. The area is generally quiet due to the limited number of visitors, making it an ideal place to enjoy the sounds of nature.
It holds significant historical value as a dilapidated building.
Walking through the Spanish Central Plateau ~ Toledo (Region)
Its historical importance is undeniable, as it is a typical 18th-century La Mancha mansion. Later, this house served as an old inn providing accommodation and food for travelers during their rest periods. Throughout its history, it has had various uses, including providing lodging for cavalry and postal workers. It seems that it was later used as a barracks for the National Guard and as a studio for the Templeque Workshop School. In recent years, it has even housed a bar.
Exploring the Spanish Town Train Station
Spanish Central Plateau Adventure ~ Toledo (Region)
Tembrque Train Station, opened in 1853, is located in the northern part of the town, just a 12-minute drive from the city center. The two-story passenger terminal is clad in pink stone, with a tiled roof and blue doors and windows.
Tembrque Train Station is located at kilometer 101.1 of the Iberian Railway Line connecting Madrid and Valencia. The station has two platforms and six tracks, serving Renfe's Line 57 medium-distance train, which runs on the Madrid Chamartín-Alcázar de San Juan-Los Llanos Albacete route. Trains depart twice daily from the station to Madrid Chamartín and Los Llanos Albacete, with an average journey time of 1.5 hours to Madrid Chamartín and 2 hours to Los Llanos Albacete. To Toledo, a transfer at Madrid Atocha Train Station takes approximately 3 hours. #SeptemberDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Castilla-La Mancha
The unique cathedral houses many ceramic fragments and a large number of demolished Roman and medieval archaeological artifacts.

This is arguably Talavera's flagship church, a sanctuary for all Talavera residents and the shrine to Our Lady of the Prado, Talavera's patron saint. It wasn't elevated to cathedral status until the 1990s by Pope John Paul II.
This Renaissance and Baroque work, featuring 16th- and 17th-century tiles, depicts the lives of the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, and Saint Anthony, the abbot. Some call it the "Sistine Chapel." It also houses a small museum with exhibits of great historical and artistic value.

A deer-hunting walk through the wilderness
A trip through Spain's Central Plateau ~ Toledo (Region)
A truly magical place, with fascinating archaeological sites. There's so much to see: towers, tombs, castles, and even deserts; everything is in ruins, yet looks ancient and inviting, allowing you to let your imagination run wild. The Sedena River and the Maramundira Creek are perfect for strolling, listening to the many birdsong, and spotting wild boar and deer is easy.

A perfect place to spend a day with family and connect with nature.
Hiking through the Central Plateau of Spain ~ Toledo (Region)
By the river, you can enjoy the view of Escalona Castle. The water is cold but perfect for summer. We had a great time, but during summer, you must bring sun loungers and umbrellas because the sunlight is very strong this year. It's a great spot to do something different and spend quality time with friends or family. It's recommended to bring water shoes or flip-flops for the river, as you might encounter pebbles before stepping into the water. However, the moderately flowing river will make your experience truly enjoyable.
Crossing the Tagus River – San Martín Bridge and San Servando Castle
The moment I arrived in Toledo, my heart couldn't help but race at the breathtaking scenery. Below the medieval city, the **Tagus River (Río Tajo)** flows, spanned by the San Martín Bridge (Puente de San Martín). With its five arches and defensive towers at both ends, the bridge exudes the grandeur of the medieval era.
🚶♂️ A Walk on the Bridge
In the early morning, when there are fewer people, it's the perfect time to stroll leisurely across the bridge and take in the city and the river.
• Standing by the statue in the middle of the bridge, I was reminded of the legend about the architect's wife setting the bridge on fire.
• Crossing the bridge leads to the Jewish Quarter and old alleyways, making it feel as though Toledo is inviting you back in time.
On the other side of the bridge, perched above the river, stands the **San Servando Castle (Castillo de San Servando)**. Originally a monastery in the 11th century, it later became a fortress and is now used as a hostel and conference venue. Climbing up to the castle offers a breathtaking view of the Tagus River, with the entire city spread out like a painting above the water.
