24 Hours in Antwerp: Castles, Fries & Riverside Views 🇧🇪 Part 2
After leaving Brussels, we hopped on a FlixBus to Antwerp for just €7, arriving in Belgium’s fashion and diamond capital for a short but memorable stay. In just 24 hours, we explored stunning landmarks, enjoyed amazing food, and caught a sunset by the river.
🏛 First Stop: Antwerp Central Station
Even though we arrived by bus, we had to check out Antwerp Central Station, often called one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. Its grand architecture, towering arches, and elegant staircases made it feel more like a palace than a transit hub.
🏙 Wandering Through the Old Town
From there, we strolled down Meir shopping street, passing stunning buildings and boutiques before reaching Grote Markt. This iconic square, with gold-trimmed guild houses and the impressive Brabo Fountain, truly captures the essence of Antwerp’s history.
Nearby, we visited the Cathedral of Our Lady, home to Rubens' famous paintings. The towering structure and intricate interior make it one of Belgium’s most breathtaking churches.
🍟 Food Stop: Frites Atelier – Next-Level Belgian Fries
For lunch, we visited Frites Atelier, a spot famous for elevating the classic Belgian fries experience. Their fries were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft inside, and topped with gourmet sauces that took them to another level. Highly recommended!
🌅 Sunset by the River Scheldt
As the evening approached, we walked along the Scheldt River, where locals gathered to unwind by the waterfront. Watching the sunset reflect over the river was the perfect way to wrap up the trip.
24 hours in Antwerp felt too short, but it was just enough to fall in love with the city's charm, history, and amazing food. Next stop? 🚍
