Old Town Riga is a captivating blend of history, culture, and stunning architecture. Strolling through its cobblestone streets, I was instantly enchanted by the colorful facades and medieval buildings, such as the iconic House of Blackheads and the impressive St. Peter's Church, which offers breathtaking views from its tower. The vibrant atmosphere is amplified by quaint cafes and local artisans showcasing their crafts. The rich history is palpable, and I especially enjoyed exploring the Riga Castle and the Freedom Monument. The local cuisine, particularly the traditional rye bread and hearty Latvian soups, was a delightful experience. Overall, Old Town Riga is a gem that offers a unique glimpse into the past while providing a lively, modern vibe. Highly recommend it for any traveler!
Charming seaside town of Cádiz
I recently had a lovely time enjoying the fresh seafood and chill seaside ambience in the town of Cádiz, an hour plus away by car from Seville. Beautiful beaches and lovely architecture in the old town area (churches, cathedrals and all the old school houses), really amazing vibes. The food I tried were mostly all very delicious too, fresh ocean catches cooked in olive oil.
It’s definitely a cute town worth checking out if you want to get away from bustling city life!

Torre Tavira in Cádiz was such an interesting spot to visit! For an entrance fee of €7, we got to enjoy one of the best views in the city. The tower itself is fascinating, especially with its unique Camera Obscura, which projects live images of the city onto a screen—such a cool experience! The 360-degree view from the top is unbeatable, offering a stunning panorama of Cádiz’s whitewashed buildings and the sparkling Atlantic Ocean 🌊. Cadiz is a gem 🇪🇸
#summerdestinations
Spending a day in Cádiz was like stepping into a charming, sun-soaked postcard. Located on Spain’s southern coast, this historic city offers a rich blend of culture and seaside beauty. My day started with a visit to the Cádiz Cathedral, where the stunning baroque architecture and panoramic views from the bell tower were absolutely worth the €6 entrance fee. The nearby Plaza de San Juan de Dios was bustling with local life and great for a quick coffee and pastry ☕️🥐.
Strolling through the old town, I admired the colorful, narrow streets and quaint shops. For lunch, I enjoyed fresh seafood at one of the many local eateries—try the fried fish, it’s a local specialty 🐟. In the afternoon, I wandered along La Caleta Beach, a lovely spot to relax and watch the sunset. The beach was peaceful, and the warm golden sand was perfect for lounging.
Cádiz is also home to some fantastic museums. The Museo de Cádiz, with its fascinating exhibits on local history and art, was a highlight, and entry was free on Sundays 🎨. The vibrant markets and the charming local shops around Mercado Central de Abastos were ideal for picking up souvenirs.
This city has a laid-back vibe with plenty to explore, from its historic landmarks to its beautiful beaches. Cádiz offers a delightful mix of relaxation and exploration—definitely a day well spent!

Santa Catalina Castle 🏛️
#2024wish
Just spent an amazing day at Castillo de Santa Catalina inCadizSpain! 🏰 The 5 EUR entrance fee offered historical treasures and panoramic views that I believe was worth every penny. 💸
Sitting on the shores of Atlantic, it was a fascinating mixture of military history and breathtaking coastal beauty. 🌊🏞️
It was like travelling back in time when wandering through the rooms and battlements which have been preserved well. Each cannon-lined wall and arrowslit window made evident the strategic importance of this fortress. 🕰️🏹
What undoubtedly stood out was the beautiful panorama of the city, ocean and Playa de la Victoria. An ideal place to grab the quintessence of Cadiz through one picture! 📸🌅
Just a few minutes away, the Caleta Beach beckoned with its golden sands and azure waters – an ideal way to unwind after absorbing history. 🏖️🌞
The Castillo de San Sebastián, just across the causeway beside it added some more layers of history to explore. Two castles in one day? Count me in! ⚔️🏰
Castillo de Santa Catalina became a highlight of my Spanish journey – an ideal mix between the history, coastal appeal, and Andalusian flair as I look at its stones under the warm hue of setting down sun. 🌟🇪🇸 #SantaCatalinaAdventures #CadizCastleViews #HistoricalGems #AtlanticVibes
Cadiz Cathedral ⛪️
One of the most staggering Roman catholic churches in southern Spain is Cadiz Cathedral. Set on the seaside, it towers above the old town and is recognized as the most prominent landmark in the city with its golden dome.
One of the best things to do in Cadiz is to climb its bell tower for sweeping views of the city and the surrounding beaches. Only one of the bell towers is open to the public, but you can get tickets when entering the cathedral.

Cadiz Cathedral took over 100 years to build, from 1722 to 1838 which makes it an elegant mix between Baroque style, Rococo style, and Neoclassical style. It has later been declared a Bien de Interes Cultural (of cultural importance) for the last 100 years.
The cathedral has many names; Santa Cruz Sobre el Mar (Saint Cruz on the Sea), Santa Cruz Sobre las Aguas (Saint Cruz on the waters), but most famously, the New Cathedral. The latter comes from the fact that the cathedral that used to stay there was burned down in 1596 before the new one was erected.
The cathedral is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00-21:00 and Sundays from 13:30-21:00, and the clock tower is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00-21:00 and Sundays from 12:00-15:00 and 16:00-21:00. Last entry to the cathedral is 45 minutes before closing time and 30 minutes before closing time for climbing the clock tower. The entrance fee is 7 Euros for adults.

It’s really close to everything you could need, and as extra you can get amazing food really close because there is too many restaurants and bars that serves beautiful sea food. Tinto de Verano, tortillita de camaron, your beach towel and you’ll done! I have Cadiz and La Caleta in my heart❤️ The best sunsets are there!

nice place to stroll, we’re lucky that we witness this place during its festival season👍👍👍👍👍
Colourful Cadiz!
I have been lucky enough to visit this place twice now (even swimming in the sea) and it is beautiful! Getting a little lost in the interconnecting streets and then finding yourself again was fun and yet you never really feel you are lost lost! Whilst it has the usual things like McDonald’s we did actually stop at an authentic restaurant which contained the highest number of restaurants in this one street I’ve ever seen! Again, super awesome for a stopover or a day trip to the beach, but the scenery and the walking along the seafront it amazing! Crystal clear waters in some parts just make it all the better!

When it comes to Spain, most people think of the first "Madrid", "Barcelona" and "Malaga"... I don't know Cadiz is a popular tourist resort in Spain.
Cadiz is the province of Cadiz, Spain. It is the capital of the province of Cadiz, a coastal city that extends into the Gulf of Cadiz. At the top of the narrow peninsula, more than ten kilometers on three sides are surrounded by the ocean, and only one side is connected to the land. It is the oldest city in Spain and was built by the Phoenicians in 1000 BC. The shipbuilding industry is developed and is one of the shipbuilding centers in Spain. It is the first choice for the gathering and departure of Spanish sea adventurers. In the southern city of Spain, which has long been unknown, Cadiz has been famous for hosting the world's top sailing events in recent years. It can be seen in Spanish in many landscapes of the city of Cadiz: the emblem of the Cadiz-Sailboat Capital.
The Gulf of Cadiz (Spanish: Golfo de Cdiz) is a bay of the Atlantic Ocean between Cape So Vicente in Portugal and Cape Trafalgar at the western end of the Strait of Gibraltar.
The wide bay of the southwest Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula, about 320 km (200 miles) long, extends from Cape Saint Vincent in Portugal to the Strait of Gibraltar. The port of Cadiz in Portugal is a south-facing area facing the harbor of the Algarve, where there are steep mantles and towering cliffs along the bay, with beaches, small river estuaries and countless villages. Further south is the Spanish coast. The most common terrain is a large swamp behind the sand dunes on the shore, and some extend to the inland for 50 km (30 miles). There are tidal waterways in the marshes, the largest being the rivers of Guadiana, Tinto-Odiel, Guadalquivir and Guadalete. This has many salt fields and a few settlements, including the city of Cadiz. The city is on the Bay of Cadiz, which flows into the Gulf of Cadiz. Further south, the terrain along the coast from Cape Trafalgar to the Strait of Gibraltar is a staggered rock and beach.
