Hotel Uhland

Hotel Uhland

📍 147, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda Street former, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda St, Windhoek
★★★ 8.1 (35 reviews)

"I stayed at Hotel Uhland in Windhoek for four weeks with colleagues during a business trip, and it was an excellent experience overall. The rooms and all the facilities were always very clean and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable stay each day. The staff at the hotel were consistently friendly and went out of their way to help with anything we needed, whether it was local recommendations or assistance with plans for weekends. The hotel’s relaxed atmosphere was perfect after long workdays, and it’s clear that guest comfort and satisfaction are a priority here. I truly appreciated how attentive and accommodating the staff were throughout our stay. If you are visiting Windhoek for business or leisure, I highly recommend Hotel Uhland for its great service, cleanliness, and friendly team"

TaTe Village

TaTe Village

📍 113 John Meinert Street, Windhoek
★★ 8.1 (19 reviews)

"The room had a separate table and chairs and a very large wardrobe. Check-in was quick and easy, and the room was clean and hygienic with a beautiful and comfortable environment. The service was especially excellent; the front desk staff promptly resolved any issues I might have. Although I don't speak English, they were very patient and supportive. Thank you."

Livega House

Livega House

📍 7 Luther Street, Windhoek
★★★★ 8.6 (37 reviews)

"We booked the Livega House in Windhoek specifically because of its convenient location near Joe's Beerhouse. The reviews were promising, but unfortunately, our experience was quite different. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and had booked and already paid for an expensive Executive Suite on the rooftop with panoramic views over Windhoek. Instead, we were given a significantly cheaper standard room, which we immediately complained about. Since the reception closed at 5:00 PM and we arrived shortly after, no one could help us. The next morning, we contacted the office manager responsible for bookings and presented her our booking and payment confirmation. We were very rudely informed that their computer system had displayed a standard room instead of the more expensive Executive Suite we had booked and already paid for. We politely requested clarification and a refund of the overpayment but were very rudely dismissed with the explanation that it must have been a booking error. Since we needed to get to the airport in time for our connecting flight to Cape Town, we left a copy of our confirmation with the office manager, requesting clarification. The following weeks passed without any response from management. Livega House seemed to be deliberately ignoring the matter. Apparently, they didn't even deem it necessary to apologize or refund the difference. After months of email correspondence, to which management barely responded, the office manager finally admitted her mistake but tried to delay the refund as long as possible. Due to high bank fees for the transfer from Namibia to Germany, we received only a third of the originally owed amount after several months. It would have been professional for Livega House to have immediately admitted the error and refunded the difference. Because of these frustrating incidents and the poor management, we can only give this supposedly 5-star hotel 3 stars for the good food. Unfortunately, due to our negative and unprofessional experience, we Unprofecannot recommend this hotel and will definitely choose a different hotel on our next visit to Windhoek!"

Mercure Hotel Windhoek ★★★
"Our hotel check-in experience was quite messy. We booked a room at Mercure, but upon arrival, we were directed to the adjacent Mövenpick for check-in. After waiting for half an hour, we were assigned a room, only to find it was a twin room. We went back to request a change, waited another half an hour, and were told there were no king-size beds available. Eventually, we were moved back to the Mercure. Apparently, other colleagues who also booked king-size rooms at Mercure initially received twin rooms as well. The breakfast arrangements were also unclear. For the first couple of days, we were told to go to Mövenpick for breakfast, but then a few days later, we were instructed to go back to Mercure."

"It took quite a while to walk to the supermarket. Also, there was construction going on during the day. There was a toilet that didn't lock. Other than that, it was clean and comfortable."

"I chose this hotel because it's right next to the shuttle bus stop for the Namib Desert. The property is quite large, and it's a bit of a trek with heavy luggage from the entrance where the security guard is. It's essentially designed for travelers with cars, allowing you to park right next to your room. The room amenities and cleanliness are perfectly adequate. The restaurant food is also delicious. If they just added a convenience store or a small shop, you could pretty much do everything you need within the hotel itself."

"WiFi, a bathtub, big and small. There are shopping malls and supermarkets downstairs. It only takes 5 minutes to walk to the scenic spots. The sunset on the 15th floor of the top floor is very beautiful. It is the best hotel in the city."

Hotel Uhland ★★★
"All in all, it's a good place for a day or two. Location is not too far from everything of interest, security is good. They have a pool and sell beers when shops are closed. AC and fridge worked perfectly well. No issues with hot water as well. Staff was great. My only complaint is the twin bed in a room marked as a double - even though it was clearly stated that there are twin beds, a double should have a double bed. My sleep was not too comfy in a setup with two small beds posing as one king/queen one. But overall I had a pleasant stay. Can recommend."

"The sheets and pillowcases in the room seemed to have never been changed. It is recommended to bring disposable pillowcases and dirty sheets, or sleep in your clothes. Why did I choose this hotel? It's not because it's cheap, because I'm traveling alone, I can make friends, and I can travel together. As a result, no one came to share the room with me for 2 days. There is a supermarket nearby, but the price is expensive. You can take a taxi to the big supermarket in the city center to buy things. There are cheap and fresh things. Taxis are cheap, prepare change, they don't accept US dollars. The exchange rate at the airport is a little worse than the money exchange places in the city. If you want to change 50 to 100 US dollars, change it at the airport. It's more than 2 kilometers from the hotel. There are many places with slopes in the city. It is recommended to call a taxi and negotiate the price before getting on the car."
