Ueda Plaza Hotel

Ueda Plaza Hotel ★★

📍 1 Chome-1-18 Central, Ueda

"The location is good as it's close to the station. The rooms and other facilities weren't very clean. However, that's probably unavoidable considering the price."

Ueda Plaza Hotel Tenjin
7.3 (14 reviews)

Ueda Plaza Hotel Tenjin

📍 1-2-32 Tenjin, Ueda-shi, Ueda

"the bathroom had an overwhelming plastic smell. almost every japanese bathroom i've stayed at has been mostly plastic, but this 1 reeked. i was so lightheaded from microplastics, i felt short of breath and was blowing my nose the whole time, the whole next day, and i've had a massive headache. plastic is very difficult to remove from the body so for your health, choose a different hotel. other than the plastic health concern, it seemed clean, but it doesn't balance out when there are clean hotels that won't pollute your lungs with a bunch of plastic. also, there was constant noise through the window, i guess from air conditioner exhaust fans. this can cause tinnitus. breakfast buffet was great but it's a 2 minute walk down the road. when the salmon was eaten, they put out mackerel. it was good service overall."

Ueda Tokyu Rei Hotel

Ueda Tokyu Rei Hotel ★★★

📍 4 Chome-24-1 Tenjin, Ueda

"The location was great; you can walk everywhere. Breakfast was very good."

Nakamatsuya Ryokan
9.7 (110 reviews)

Nakamatsuya Ryokan ★★★★

📍 1627 Besshoonsen, Ueda

"Nakamatsuya is next to Shimoda. It takes 27 minutes to reach Bessho Onsen on the Bessho Line. Shimoda is a Shinkansen station. The Bessho Line runs about every half an hour. There is a free tour bus from the hotel on Saturdays and Sundays. It takes ten minutes to reach the hotel. If you don't walk uphill towards Guanyin in the north for ten minutes, or call the hotel and say they are at the station and they will drive to pick you up in five minutes. Bessho Onsen is more popular than many declining hot spring towns. There are many hot spring hotels doing good business. Among them, Hanaya Daishofu is the most popular. Tamaya is a new Japanese and Western style. Because the price on Saturday is expensive and the single person, one night and two meals are less, I blindly chose Matsuya, which is also a hotel with a long history. The lobby has the atmosphere of a family hotel. The Japanese room I booked should have been partially renovated. There is no unpleasant smell of tatami mats. There is a view outside the window that can see the town and mountains. Some cheap rooms have no view at all. There are also Japanese and Western style luxury rooms. The town is worth walking outside. There are quiet temples. The town is quiet and beautiful. There are flowers blooming everywhere in June, especially peonies. The restaurant only has matsutake mushrooms from September to November, and the restaurant has grilled wagyu in June, which is very good. The breakfast is a bit simple, a Japanese set meal, and it is served at 8 o'clock at the latest. The hot spring on the top floor is very good. There are flower arrangements everywhere in the hotel, and they are carefully maintained. There are Chinese staff, and the service is warm and friendly. The disadvantage is that the curtains are useless. The roller curtains do not block the light. I was woken up very early and slept very badly. Is it strange that the Japanese sleep so well? Light affects the secretion of melatonin. Why don't they care whether the curtains block the light? It is a common problem in Japanese hotels. The kettle heats up in one or two hours. It is best to unplug it when sleeping. The tatami is a bit sticky when barefoot, and it should be wiped more carefully. There will be a little odor in the bathroom. Overall, it is a well-run hot spring hotel. If the price is right, it is recommended to stay."

Toyoko Inn Ueda Ekimae
8.8 (128 reviews)

Toyoko Inn Ueda Ekimae ★★★

📍 1-chōme-6-11 Tenjin, Ueda

"The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and provided great service. However, the hotel has limited parking, so I had to park at a nearby location instead. Overall, a very convenient place to stay, especially for those traveling by train."

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nagano-Ueda ★★★
"I was very happy to receive a room upgrade upon check-in. The room was very clean and there was no strange smell that is common in hotels, so I had a very comfortable stay. The linens were also very soft and comfortable. I especially liked the pajama-style sleepwear, which came in separate tops and bottoms. I would definitely stay at this hotel again."

"Awesome Ryokan! Staff came to pick me up at Bessho-Onsen Station, Outdoor onsen was good, dinner was excellent. They had some "red clear miso" drink and "transparent soy sauce" which was quite a neat touch showing their creativity with food. I would recommend this ryokan to anyone coming to Bessho Onsen!"

Ueda Tokyu Rei Hotel ★★★
"I use this hotel because I have a study group in Nagano Prefecture every month. Everyone at the front desk is kind and polite. Breakfast is a buffet and the contents remain the same, but I think breakfast is pretty much the same everywhere. If you get tired of it, you can purchase something at a nearby convenience store. I come by car, but when it snows, the train is fine too. It's convenient as it's right next to the station. I'll use it again."
