Hotel Mondial am Dom Cologne - MGallery

Definitely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and the best hotel from Accor Hotels. I had accidentally booked the wrong dates for my stay. As soon as I realised it, I contacted the hotel. The staff helped me to change my reservation dates. While on my trip, due to the strikes in France and problems with the train connections I had to postpone my meeting online. I sent an email to request to check in early since I will be having my meeting at 1 p.m. Ms Wulff made the necessary arrangements prior to my arrival. On my arrival I was able to check in early and able to proceed with my online meeting. Without her help I would not be able to conduct my meeting. On the next day, I had another online meeting. Her colleague made the necessary arrangements so that the housekeeping team could get the room cleaned before lunch and my next online appointment. Till date I have stayed in a number of hotels from the Accor Hotels group. In comparison to M Gallery am Konzerthaus in Wien, Hotel Mondial am Dom in Cologne exceeds my expectations. Professionalism The staff at the reception were not only friendly and good at what they are doing, they are also willing to help and went an extra mile to make things possible. I would not have been able to get my work done if they did not help me. Even when checking out, the staff was professional and showed interest to assist customers whenever they dan. Splendid Location Situation a few minutes walk from the train station and the main city area, is this hotel definite one of the most strategic location in Cologne. View of the Cathedral I managed to get a glimpse of the cathedral from my room. Dinner I had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was not only affordable, the service was impeccable. The waiter even suggested where I could sit so that I can get the best view of the area. Awesome! I would like to thank the remarkable staff for making my stay in Köln memorable und unforgettable. I would definitely be staying in this hotel again when I visit Cologne.

Sadly this is NOT a 5 star hotel and I don’t even know how they got that rating. They may have been at one point but unfortunately my experience there was not of a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly however the hotel itself was very underwhelming. Upon arrival there was a paper stuck on the elevator saying there will be no water after midnight for the next 3 days . We then got a room on the 6th floor which had a nice view of the street, however at 8am in the morning we were woken up by drilling sounds from a floor above us and when we complained to the staff they said there was nothing they could do about it, we then finally got moved to the second floor, but the furniture in that room was so old rusty and outdated in my opinion. My boyfriend wanted to go take a nice swim in the pool that is advertised on their website only to realize that using it is an extra charge as the pool does not belong to the hotel. The pillows we had were also very bad, usually you get a set of about 2-3 pillows in 5 star hotels but we only got 1 flat pillow each which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Sadly the only good thing about this hotel is that it’s very close to everything, about 5 minutes to the main station and the supermarket is right across the street as are most restaurants. The Rhein river is also quite close. I believe the hotel has a lot of improvement to do but it seems they are not even considering improvement any time soon. After the not so great experience we had we thought maybe they might offer some sort of compensation but nothing was offered. Once again this is really not a 5 star hotel so don’t be fooled.

This is not an ideal hotel at all. I would not give it anymore than a poor rating. The outer front of the hotel is awful and actually looks like it's closed. Very uninviting! On walking in, I was ”met” (not greeted) by a female member of staff who was OK (she did offer some conversation).... but not the most welcoming of people. I was kept waiting initially while she fetched someone else. In the meantime, I filled in some forms and a rather grumpy and disheveled looking person arrived. He mentioned I had to pay a fee for something but it wasn''t really clear what it was for. I reluctantly paid as it was only 4 euros and I didn't really understand German - had it been anymore, I would might have been more inclined to argue. The room (I was in 107) was frankly reminiscent of something from the Bates Motel. Very old furniture. The room was hot (I had to open the window) and although there was a TV, adequate WIFI, cleans towels etc - the standard was just frankly horrendous. I saw a pube on the wall in the bathroom! For this next part (I take partial responsibility as I WAS warned) but after 10 there is no reception which means you have to take your two keys with you. Now I stupidly assumed it was because the front door would be locked after 10. The real reason is because the hotel room door itself locks behind you. I walked out of the hotel room as I went to see if I could find someone to lend me a fan and the door locked behind me. Without anyone in reception, I was stranded late at night in the corridor. I had to physically climb out of the window and LUCKILY I had left my own open due to the hot weather.... otherwise I don't know what I would have done. I did NOT have the breakfast. It was included in the price but frankly everything seemed so sub-standard that I didn't want to risk it. Honestly, I know you get what you pay for but this wasn't even worth that and I paid approximately £50.

The location was great. Short walk from all main attractions in the City Centre. All food locations, christmas markets, transport access very conveniently available! We booked the Junior Suite. Whilst the towels were clean. And the beds were excellent. However, the toilet had a smell of leftover waste. =( And needed a few days to get the smell out. However, our stay had ended by then. So i'm not sure if this can be improved in the future. I do hope so. The service was excellent. The staff were willing to help clarify all our queries, and provide suggestions of places to visit. Facilities - I thought that for the Brand Name 'Hilton'. More facilities could have been made availble for us. Like a Gym. Evening Cocktails. Etc. As we had booked suites in other Hilton outlets across Europe and Asia, and the facilities availble to us, was a lot more. Probably can improve on this.

Hotel location is very good, from Cologne Cathedral, about 10 minutes walk from Cologne Central Railway Station, many restaurants downstairs, walking distance to the nearby shopping center, the bathroom is small, but very clean, just the shower area is small People who are overweight may not turn well, breakfast is rich, there is no problem to eat, the overall price is not bad.

I thought it was a hotel room, but found out that I rented the entire apartment. There is a restaurant, but no tableware. It is very spacious, close to the station and close to Cologne Cathedral.

The hotel is right next to the Cologne Cathedral, and there is a great restaurant downstairs, next to the train station, the traffic is very convenient. The room you stayed in was very spacious and you could spread out your suitcase at will. Drinks in the minibar are free and good value for money. The reception staff were friendly and happy to answer questions. The bellmen are also friendly. Parents stayed very satisfied.

As a female solo traveller I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. I paid for one night and never stayed, I left at 10:30pm and went to a hotel nearby. I was first out in a room with older and very strange people who had food all over their beds and floors as though they live there full time. The smell was horrendous and I knew I couldn't sleep in there. I asked for another room thinking I got unlucky. I was then transferred to a room with 3 older men in there 50s and 60s who were walking around with only underpants and then fully undressing in front of me. They were not reading books or minding their own business, just staring at me while I made my bed. As I went to leave, one of them followed me and asked where I was going, if I was leaving, and when I'd be back. He was strangely invested in my quick return bit was odd. There should be a healthy mix of women and men, and travellers want to stay with like-minded travellers, not homeless people and creepy old men! I lost 30 euros at this place. Just avoid it!
