Dom Hotel am Romerbrunnen

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. ITS A SCAM. We arrived at 11pm to find the hotel closed with no signs of life at all. We tried to contact them using the number provided but it was no longer connected. We rang agoda who we’d booked through but they had no way of contacting them either. We had no where to stay, it was -9 and there wasn’t anyway to book another hotel. We had to get the train back to the airport and spend the night there. We returned to the hotel at 9 am the following morning At this point we’d been awake for over 24 hours. The hotel reception was still closed but eventually a lady answered the door and informed us the hotel had been closed for 6 weeks and we should have been informed. We weren’t informed. She finally let us in and said she would try to find out where we were booked in. After over an hour she informed us they had transferred us to a hotel just up the road. On arrival at the new hotel we discovered it was run down and filthy. We cut our losses and booked somewhere else ourselves. We have never received a refund for our stay.

We learned upon arrival that our family Appartment is not usable and were rebooked into a nearby hotel. That hotel room we ended up in had bunk beds and was not comparable to what we booked. We have ever since tried to get a full or partial refund but are repeatedly told that they refuse to cooperate or even discuss with us directly (we booked via trip.com)

Friendly staff, very outdated room and bathroom but not terrible. It was nice and quite, very good location within walking distance to a lot of the Christmas markets etc. Complimentary tea, coffee & water which was a nice touch. We were emailed a day before to supply a €200 deposit for damages to the hotel etc, which I believe is ridiculously steep considering the condition and contents of the room. Luckily when we arrived they didn’t ask for the deposit. Overall we had a good stay.

Hotel cancelled my family’s 1-night visit 5 days before we were due to check in. A generic ‘payment card issue’ was given as the reason. However, full payment was due at the property. When I tried to re-book, there were no rooms for our size, but there were rooms for smaller groups (we are a family of 5; 2 adults, 3 children aged 11 years.) If you want a guaranteed booking and a bed for the night - don’t book with this hotel!

The pictures on here look fresh and modern, the room we were given was tired, the Toilet smelled like a Public male toilet and didn’t feel clean, we had a radiator in the room that made waterfall noises all night - it was OK but we paid over £200 for 1 night expecting something luxurious but it was not. They charge for the location but there is much better in cologne that I’ve stayed in.

VORSICHT FINGER WEG! Für einen 30.Geburtstag haben wir das Business Apartment Mitte August für eine Nacht gebucht. Unabhängig von der kaputten Dusche und dem heruntergekommen Zustand des Apartments ist die Lage wirklich ideal und das Apartment war für eine Nacht in Ordnung. Doch bereits beim Eintreffen begannen die Probleme mit Personal. Die Buchung wurde Anfang April schriftlich per E-Mail durchgeführt, da das Buchungsportal des Hotels, wahrscheinlich Coronabedingt, nicht funktionierte. Der Erstkontakt verlief freundlich und reibungslos. Nach Übermittlung meiner Kreditkarteninformationen zur Bestätigung des Hotels fehlte mir eine schriftliche Bestätigung des Zimmers. (Hinweis: Im Nachhinein behauptet, das Personal es hätte eine Betätigung verschickt, doch habe ich nie eine erhalten.) Nach mehreren Wochen war immer noch nichts da also fragte ich höflich per Telefon nach ob mir eine schriftliche Bestätigung per E-Mail geschickt werden könnte. Dies wurde nach einigen Tagen gemacht (Der Anruf wird mittlerweile trotz Nachweis vom Hotel geleugnet). Nichts Ahnend wollten wir nun im Hotel einchecken und es wurde behauptet, dass zwei Buchungen vorliegen und ich natürlich auch zwei Zimmer bezahlen solle. Trotz dem vorlesen des Verlaufes wurde behauptet ich hätte im Juni (seltsamerweise direkt nach dem Telefonat mit dem Hotel zwecks Buchungsbestätigung) über das Buchungsportal eine zweite Buchung abgegeben. Warum hätte ich das tun sollen? Wir waren nur fünf Leute (ein Apartment ist für fünf Leute ausgelegt) und der Kontakt lief bisher auch schriftlich per E-Mail. Weshalb sollte ich das Buchungsportal nutzen um ggf. ein zweites Zimmer zu reservieren wenn doch der Kontakt bisher per E-Mail ablief? Sowohl beim Check-Out als auch nach schriftlichen E-Mailverkehr mit dem Hotel bestand das Personal auf dem Standpunkt ich hätte eine zweite Buchung über das Portal veranlasst und ich solle zwei Zimmer bezahlen. Meine Kreditkarte wurde daher mit einem "No-Show" belastet obwohl ich das genutzte eine Zimmer vor Ort bereits bezahlte. Die Bitte um Zurücknahme, da ich keine zweite Buchung durchgeführt hatte, wurde abgelehnt und stattdessen ein 10%-Rabatt für die nächste Buchung offeriert. Mein Anwalt und ich vermuten, dass ein/eine KollegIn statt die Buchungsbestätigung rauszuschicken, die Buchung aus versehen erneut eingetragen hat (mit meinen per E-Mail übermittelten Daten), da die erste nicht über das Buchungsportal sondern direkt per Mail getätigt wurde oder eine Betrugsmasche des Hotels dahinterliegt. Kurzum: FINGER WEG! Neben den Problemen mit der angeblichen doppelten Buchung ist die Lage zwar ideal, doch lässt die Sauberkeit, der Service sowie der Zustand der Apartments schwer zu wünschen übrig.
