Exclusive VIP Experience - The Terriers 2 Eve’s Story | Walsall FC

Dec 9, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Walsall
Arts
Theater
Terriers’ is a play written by a Liverpool based playwright, Maurice Bessman and directed by Miriam Mussa telling the story of two feuding gangs in Liverpool. It is hard hitting but uses humour, dance and drama to convey the dangers and consequences of becoming involved in guns/knives and gangs. ‘Terriers’ has been fully evaluated and the results have shown that it has not only changed young people’s attitude in respect of guns/knives and gangs, but has also shown a marked improvement in their behaviour and attainment.Locally and nationally we have seen an increasing number of young people becoming involved in gangs. The production aims to warn of the potential consequences of getting involved with guns/knives and gangs and helps young people to make positive decisions that will impact on their future and adults to recognise signs of their child being involved in a gang.We recognise that the overwhelming majority of our teenagers are not involved in criminality, guns/knives and gangs. However, the wider the audience that we can target the more likely we are to be able to prevent some vulnerable young people from becoming involved in events they can't control.By working together, we know we can make a significant difference – by demonstrating through relevant and impactive live theatre the difficult and life changing decisions that some young people in our communities face. We hope that by delivering a true to life play we can objectively illustrate what happens when gang culture takes hold, and the devastating consequences that this can have. We hope that by raising awareness and getting young people and communities to consider the issues raised, we can work together to make our communities a safer place to live and work.**Please note that children attending the event must be aged 11 or older and must be accompanied by an adult** Light refreshments provided We look forward to seeing you there!
