We are inviting community members to participate in our upcoming wetland plug planting, focused on adding diversity to the wetland. This important work will help in enhancing biodiversity and support native wildlife. FAQs What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? The meeting location is at the Old Canadian Tire parking lot at Cootes Dr and Dundas St intersection, Dundas, Ontario. Attendees will be responsible for getting themselves to and from the event. Parking is available, and we encourage that any families/friends that may be attending to carpool. I want to bring friends or family members, can they tag along? Only registered participants can attend the event, which will be confirmed by an email prior to the event. Please have any additional family/friends/children etc. register. What should I bring to the event? Hamilton Conservation Authority staff will be providing tools and gloves to participants as well as snacks (apples and peanut free granola bars) and drinking water - water will be available on-site to fill reusable water bottles, so please remember to bring your water bottle! What should I wear to the event? Please wear long pants, work boots or rubber boots (preferably steel toe), or close toed shoes for planting and dress for the weather. If you would prefer to bring your own work gloves then you are welcome to do so. Use of bug repellant is also recommended as warm weather means ticks will be. This event will happen rain or shine! Overview The HBMBA team is excited to host our second weekend event of the '25 Season Series, a Community Dig Day at Christie Lake. In this hands-on dig day, participants will be introduced to tools of the trade, learn about safety, and have an opportunity to help get our trails ready for the riding season. This Dig Day will focus on improving drainage in problem areas, fixing berms and bumps, and cutting back overgrown areas. Who Can Join Us No experience is required and all HBMBA members are welcome. Non-members may attend one trail build day but must become a member in order to attend additional build days due to the HBMBA’s insurance and liability policy. Participants must be 18+. If you have younger family members keen to join us, please reach out to hello@hbmba.ca and we will do our best to accommodate. Meeting Place Mountain bike parking lot at Christie Lake Conservation Authority (the west-most parking lot, follow signage). Accessing Christie Lake Conservation Authority If you are an HBMBA member attending a dig day at Christie Lake, you may access the park for free on the Dig Day. At the front gate, show staff proof of HBMBA membership and your Dig Day Registration. What to Bring It is recommended that you wear sturdy shoes (steel toe is ideal, but not necessary) and work/gardening gloves. Sunglasses or safety glasses are also recommended. If you are traveling with a friend or friends and would like to sit together - no problem! Please just indicate this on your registration form with the names of the people you wish to sit by. We also provide cutting/ironing tables, and power strips and small side tables. Sewing Machines - As we have said above, you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine (don't forget all your cords)!! But if you want to travel light, you can absolutely use one of our machines at a cost of $75 for the duration of the retreat. If you do need to reserve a machine, please indicate this on your registration form. We know things happen, but if for some reason you need to cancel after you have booked your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. The retreat is only fully refundable 60 days in advance of the start date. In the event that you are past the 60-day notice and are unable to attend, you may transfer your reservation to someone else or move to another retreat at a later date. Join The Muses at The Staircase Theatre on June 18th for a fun night of crafting and a classic movie. We won't even tell you what it is, just trust us, it's GOOD. Bring your crafts to work on while watching a movie, snacking, and hanging out with other rad crafters. Doors open at 7pm, The film begins at 8pm. Tickets are $10 +HST. We will be selling themed craft kits as well if you don't have anything portable to work on. Hope to see all you crafters there!
