Glou Glou: French Wine for Drinking! | Josephine
Jun 25, 2025 (UTC-4)
Alexandria A
In France, it is common to say "glou glou" when an American might say "chug chug." This has been extrapolated as a common term for wines that are oh-so-drinkable! This summer, we have plans to sit outside and throw back some good juice. But what makes certain wines so darn drinkable? And how can we find the perfect wine for easy drinking? Let's get into it.
Join us for a
casual seated wine tasting and class
where we will discuss the joys of a quaffable wine while sipping on six of our favorites from France with Wine Director, Erin Dudley, at
Josephine!
Included with your ticket:
Seated wine class with certified sommelier and Neighborhood Restaurant Group Wine Director, Erin Dudley CSW
Tasting of six moreish fine French wines
Small serving of artisanal cheese and accoutrements

IN STUDIO - Peony Perfect | Helen Olivia Flowers
Jun 25, 2025 (UTC-4)
Alexandria A
We’re so happy to have you in flower class!
You'll learn the basics of design from one of our seasoned floral designers.
Here’s what you need to know:
Each class revolves around a theme or type of flower. For example, ‘Peonies’ or ‘Jewel Toned Blooms’. The images on our website are representative of what a design might look like, but are not exact. In order to get you the most product, we hold off on ordering until a week before class to see what is available at the best price from our wholesalers. In classes that revolve around a certain flower, such as peonies, you can expect to be making a mixed bouquet highlighting that flower.
For our IN STUDIO workshops:
Each class comes with a bucket full of blooms. We account for breakage and loss in our formulas, so please understand that if you happen to have one or two unusable blooms, there are still more than enough blooms to fill out your arrangement.
You will also be provided with your vase, clippers, a list of included blooms, and any hard goods you may need.
If something comes up and you are no longer able to take the class, please give us 7 days notice. We’re happy to transfer you into any future workshop or provide a refund. If we are notified less than seven days in advance we may not be able to provide a refund.
When parking at the studio, there is street parking, and a small lot down the street that are both free to use and available for attendees
Studio doors will open 15 minutes prior to arrival
Our workshop space is a cozy fit, so we are unable to accomodate any additional guests who have not purchased a ticket, and unfortunately at this time, children aren't invited to attend.
Workshops are an hour to 90 minutes in length - after class is over, we ask that you depart in a timely fashion so our instructor can head home and rest before work the following day.
PLEASE NOTE. This is an IN-STUDIO WORKSHOP, starting at 6:30 pm at our studio location in Alexandria, VA. This is not a virtual workshop and no recordings will be available.
Cheers to a lovely flower class together!

About the Books:
Going Bicoastal
is a Sliding Doors rom-com in which a girl must choose between summer in NYC with her dad (and the girl she's always wanted) or LA with her estranged mom (and the guy she never saw coming). Natalya Fox has twenty-four hours to make the biggest choice of her life: stay home in NYC for the summer with her dad (and finally screw up the courage to talk to the girl she's been crushing on), or spend it with her basically estranged mom in LA (knowing this is the best chance she has to fix their relationship, if she even wants to.) (Does she want to?) How's a girl supposed to choose? She can't, and so both summers play out in alternating timelines - one in which Natalya explores the city, tries to repair things with her mom, works on figuring out her future, and goes for the girl she's always wanted. And one in which Natalya explores the city, tries to repair things with her mom, works on figuring out her future, and goes for the guy she never saw coming.
Set in a New Hampshire boarding school,
Come As You Are
is an opposites attract romance proving that a fresh start doesn't have to mean changing yourself! Hot on the heels of a broken heart, Everett “Evie” Riley arrives at Camden Academy ready for a new beginning - one far away from her cheating ex-boyfriend, the sister who stole him, and the best friend who let it happen. But her fresh start is stopped in its tracks when she's accidentally placed in an all-boys dorm, with no choice but to stay. When rumors and gossip about Evie's housing predicament spread like wildfire, she decides the only way to survive is to lean into her questionable new reputation... but she's definitely going to require help. Her grumpy emo dorm mate Salem Grayson isn't exactly her first choice, but he does need her help to repair his relationship with his parents every bit as much as she needs his to learn how to be cool. And so they make a pact: he'll teach her how to be bad, if she teaches him how to be good.

Jane Austen Tea Party: Emma | Old Town Books
Jul 13, 2025 (UTC-4)
Alexandria A
Are you a grown-up who misses summer reading? We’ve got the pop-up reading group for you! A reading group is a little more structured than a book club, but way more relaxed than a class.
This summer, we’re hosting three Austen Tea Parties, tackling one Jane Austen novel each month while nibbling on tea & cookies, and maybe even breaking out our favorite fancy hats. Whether you’re a long-time Austen fan like Leah, or you somehow missed Austen in school like Nicole, our co-leaders are excited to lead discussions on these classics to celebrate Jane’s 250th birthday this year!
We’ll be discussing:
Pride & Prejudice
on Sunday, June 1
Emma
on Sunday, July 13
Persuasion
on Sunday, August 24
All sessions start at tea time, aka 4pm! You can attend just one or two sessions, but you’ll get the most out of attending all three so we can explore the themes common across all three books.
Each session is $10 to cover our tea & nibbles. While buying the book at OTB is not required, we have both standard & annotated editions available in store or online with a 10% discount if you mention “reading group”!
