A psychic, a pizza man, and God walk into a bar– and end up in Katie Folger’s bed. Find out how on the sex trip gone wrong that is her EdFringe hit solo show exploring the perils and thrills of sex and singledom in the situationship era. Getting in Bed with the Pizza Man earned Folger a Best Actor win in 2024 and was named a Top 10 Theatrical Moment by The Austin Chronicle. After sold out and five star runs in ATX, Los Angeles, and at the Edinburgh Fringe, Austin actress, writer, and comedienne Folger is back in LA with a fresh new version of the show that she’s yet to unveil for a public audience.
Lauded as “witty, wise and phenomenal at physical comedy” by NOHO Arts, Folger takes us on a jump down a rabbit hole of beginner’s sexual empowerment, “[commanding] the stage like a general leading troops into battle– if that battle were against societal expectations and prudish sensibilities” (Theatre Village UK).
After receiving a saucy, kismet “invitation to magic” from an old crush Lane for a week of sexy time in San Francisco, Katie packs her bags in the blink of an eye and heads to the west coast. But a stinging admission from Lane humbles her high hopes for hedonistic adventure. Feeling rejected and unsure of herself, Katie finds herself consumed with prospects of love and sex, rebelling against the roles she thinks she’s supposed to play—pious girlfriend, perfect wife—with a teen’s angst, mostly to no avail. But a seemingly lame, dead-end session with a psychic named White Raven gives unexpected way to that foreshadowed magic, setting Katie on a winding quest of sexual misadventure and discovery—a hippie cuddle-puddle, an illicit encounter with Lane’s bestie, a curious collision with a pizza man—that ultimately centers Katie, sans pizza man, in her own delectable narrative.
*Run time: 60min; no intermission
CREDITS
Katie Folger is an actress, writer, and comedienne from Austin, Texas. She was the winner of Best Actor from The Austin Chronicle in 2024. An acclaimed actress on both stage and screen, her bold and memorable performances have garnered her praise from festivals like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Sundance, SXSW, and Locarno, among others. Her work is geared toward more nuanced representation of women in media, inspired by longtime mentor Robert Redford.
Folger, a staple in the Austin indie film scene, recently returned to her roots onstage with a dynamo comedic performance in her one-woman show Getting In Bed with the Pizza Man, a racy, dagger-tongued comedy exploring sexual, gender, and self liberation. Directed by Matrex Kilgore, the show was named one of the Austin Chronicle's Top 10 Theatrical Moments of 2023 and enjoyed a buzzy, ravely reviewed sold out run in Austin and Los Angeles and a five star run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024. In December 2024, she performed with Amy Schumer in New Orleans and at the historic Paramount Theatre in Austin.
She’s starred in SXSW Audience Award winner ZERO CHARISMA, Streamy Award-winning sci-fi series DAY 5, (AMAZON) Robert Rodriguez’s series FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (AMAZON, EL REY), Andrew Bujalski's RESULTS which debuted at Sundance, Karen Skloss’s THE HONOR FARM and Emily Hagins’s GROW UP, TONY PHILLIPS which both premiered at SXSW, and Johan Carlsen's DEATH ON THE STREETS which premiered at Rotterdam. She has collaborated with notable Texas film figures Richard Linklater, Andrew Bujalski, Bryan Poyser, Bob Byington, Karen Skloss, David Hartstein, Yen Tan, Vicky Boone, and the Austin Film Society. GBPM is directed by Matrex Kilgore and self-produced by Folger. Sound design is by Lacy Strong.

Historical Perfume Formula: Analyzing & Assembling Honeysuckle (In Person) | The Institute for Art and Olfaction
Apr 30, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
Join the Institute for Art and Olfaction for a hands- and noses-on session where you’ll learn about and play with aromatic materials used to create the smell of
honeysuckle
. During class, you’ll be introduced to a historical perfume formula as you smell through the individual materials and final blended recreation of a
honeysuckle perfume formula
.
Next, you’ll experiment with blending exercises using a selection of aromatic materials to recreate these formulas or accords, learning how each material contributes to the overall olfactory portrait you create. As part of your learning process, you’ll make a few experimental blends to share with the class and take home for learning.
The experimental nature of these classes gives students a greater understanding of how individual materials perform and can be used in accords, formulas, and olfactory art. Beginners are welcome, but this class is more appropriate for those who have some previous blending experience at the Institute for Art and Olfaction.
Topics covered:
+ Reading accord formulas
+ Smelling aromatic materials and blended accords
+ Lab time dedicated to working with and learning about the accord’s palette
+ Discussion of substitutions in formulas due to new materials or new regulations
Take-Aways:
+ Technical knowledge about the aromatic materials constructing a given accord and formula
+ Greater familiarity with aromatic materials and combinations
+ Take-home experimental vials of reference accord(s) and individual blends made during class
