La classe de maître de hautbois avec Emma Ahern vous est présentée par le Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique du Québec. Elle aura lieu le samedi 26 avril 2025 dans le local B-125 de l'école secondaire Le boisé. Musicienne dotée d’une grande rigueur et d’une soif continue d’apprendre, Emma Ahern est diplômée du Conservatoire de musique de Québec dans la classe de Philippe Magnan, où elle a été récipiendaire d’une distinction pour son examen de fin maîtrise. En 2024, elle complète un diplôme d’artiste au Conservatoire royal de La Haye aux Pays-Bas auprès des professeurs Karel Schoofs, Ron Tijhuis et Alexei Ogrintchouk, tout en s’initiant au hautbois baroque avec Frank de Bruine. Ce diplôme lui permet notamment d’explorer son potentiel d’artiste multidisciplinaire; aux Pays-Bas, elle présente entre autres un récital final alliant scénographie, littérature, narration et musique. Autant à Québec qu’à La Haye, Emma tient à être impliquée auprès de ses pairs et participe à plusieurs créations d'œuvres nouvelles par des compositeurs émergents. Elle est aussi récipiendaire de plusieurs prix et mentions, dont des bourses du Fonds AIDA des Jeunesses Musicales Canada, du Fonds Hans-Jürgen Greif, et de l’Académie internationale du Domaine Forget, et a été médaillée au Concours de musique du Canada en plus d’avoir été nommée parmi les dix finalistes nationaux du concours Domicile adoré des Jeunesses Musicales Canada. Passionnée de musique d’ensemble, Emma est surnuméraire au hautbois et au cor anglais à l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec, l’Orchestre symphonique de la Côte-Nord et dans la musique du Royal 22e Régiment. Elle est aussi membre de l’orchestre de chambre Chrysalide, de l’Ensemble vent et percussion de Québec et du Concert géopoétique, son propre ensemble de musique de chambre, avec qui elle a produit une série de concerts durant l’été 2021 grâce à une subvention du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. Enthousiaste à l’idée de transmettre sa passion, Emma a notamment enseigné à l’École secondaire de La Seigneurie et est professeure de hautbois au Conservatoire de Rimouski depuis 2024. Let Her Play is encouraging girls to attend Notre Dame Softball vs. UNC on April 27th at 12 pm at Melissa Cook Stadium (University of Notre Dame). If you sign up to attend (for free!) you will be able to attend the meet & greet with the team following the game and receive some pretty cool swag from Let Her Play + Notre Dame Athletics! Registration only needed for the school-aged participant(s) (parent / guardian should purchase tickets and enter the participant name(s) under attendee information). Registration will close 24 hours prior to the event. Let Her Play is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization with a mission to prepare girls for life through sports participation. Did you know that there is a 7% wage gap between former athletes and former non-athletes? AND 73% of executives look for sports on a resume? (EY + espnW, 2017) Yet only 1:3 girls between the ages of 6-12 are playing sports in the United States (Aspen Institute, 2020). AND they drop out at a rate that is 1.5x that of boys by the time they hit adolescence (Refinery 29, 2017). Do you want to know why sports has such a significant impact ? Because sports teaches key life skills that are arguably not learned any other way (in addition to providing benefits to overall health and wellbeing).
