Yosi is looking forward to accompanying music to the Hunchback of Notre Dame, silent 1923 American film starring Lon Chaney and directed b by Wallace Worsley. Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film was the studio's Super Jewel of 1923 and was their most successful silent film, grossing $3.5 million. The film premiered on September 2, 1923, at the Astor Theatre in New York. Yosi will be playing piano, organ, synths, sax, clarinet, flute and percussion to accompany the film. He will improvise freely to suit the scene, whether it is comedic, tragic, action-packed or dialogue based - telling the story through the music. He is looking forward to giving you a taste of his talent. The Hunchback of Notre Dame Synopsis : In 15th-century Paris, Jehan (Brandon Hurst), the evil brother of the archdeacon, lusts after a Gypsy named Esmeralda (Patsy Ruth Miller) and commands the hunchback Quasimodo (Lon Chaney) to capture her. Military captain Phoebus (Norman Kerry) also loves Esmeralda and rescues her, but the Gypsy is not unsympathetic to Quasimodo's condition, and an unlikely bond forms between them. After vengeful Jehan frames Esmeralda for the attempted murder of Phoebus, Quasimodo's feelings are put to the test. The screening of Nosferatu is the first time that they showed accompanied silent films at the Brighton Unitarian Church at Halloween 2023. Yosi is also a seasoned classical pianist and jazz saxophonist/flautist. He performed the Goldberg Variations at St Michael's Church in Lewes in November 2024 as well as played with the Lucharian Trio, Latin-Indo-Celtic jazz trio with Lucho and Sean at the Con Club in Lewes. He also plays regularly with Momentum, 6 piece dynamic latin-Jazz fusion group, with 3 albums. About the Author Jean-Philippe Baril Guérard is an actor and writer who lives in Montreal. He is the author of four novels: Sports et divertissements (published in English as Sports and Pastimes), Royal (winner of the Prix littéraire des collégiens), Manuel de la vie sauvage (which was translated into Spanish), and Haute démolition (You Crushed It). He also co-wrote Les Cicatrisés de Saint-Sauvignac with three other writers. Several of his books have been adapted for the stage and television, including Royal, Haute démolition, and Manuel de la vie sauvage. He also writes for the stage and screen. About the Translator Neil Smith is a writer and translator from Montreal. He has won the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction and the Quebec Writers’ Federation First Book Prize. He has also been nominated for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Translation, the Sunburst Award, the Journey Prize, the Prix des libraires du Québec, and the Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book Award. L'atelier de batterie « Écouter la basse pour bien servir le groove » avec Denis Pouliot vous est présenté par le Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy. Il aura lieu le samedi 26 avril à 11h30 dans le local Club B-130 de l'école secondaire Le boisé. Bachelier de l’Université Concordia, Denis Pouliot est attiré par la batterie à l’adolescence. Il fait ses débuts dans la musique pop/rock mais le jazz l’interpelle rapidement au contact du swing des big bands des années 40. Pendant ses études universitaires, il développe un intérêt pour les différentes époques du jazz, entre autres, celle de la musique Dixieland qui l’amène à jouer jusqu’en France. Parallèlement, il s’immisce dans le monde du jazz fusion et participe à différents festivals donc ceux de Montréal et de Québec, le Festival de Blues du Mont-Tremblant et le Maximum Blues de Carleton. Il a parcouru les mers du Sud sur des bateaux de croisière pendant un an et demi en tant que batteur/directeur musical pour des revues musicales de type « Broadway ». Présentement, il joue dans différentes formations dont l’Ensemble Gospel de Québec, Quebec Jazz Band et Tribop. Le besoin de partager ses connaissances le mène à l’enseignement de la batterie au Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy dès 1995. Jean-François Aubin, assistera Denis dans sa classe de maître. Claviériste et bassiste, il a commencé le piano à l'âge de 3 ans, apprenant à la fois de façon autodidacte et selon une formule classique très rigoureuse. Double médaillé d'argent au Concours de Musique de Sillery, il poursuit ses études collégiales en piano classique au Cégep de Sainte-Foy et se classe 4e au Concours de Musique du Canada en 2006. Inscrit à l’Université Laval, il termine un baccalauréat en piano jazz en 2009 et une maîtrise en arrangement et composition en 2015. Il enseigne le piano jazz au Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy depuis 2021 et collabore avec de nombreux artistes, dont Bruno Pelletier et Florence K, et est actif en tant que musicien de studio et arrangeur pour des projets tels que Star Académie, Jazz Affair, ainsi que des nominations pour les Junos dans différents disques. Accompagnateur à l'Université Laval depuis 2011, il est enseignant au Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy depuis 2021. La classe de maître de violon avec Guillaume Villeneuve vous est présentée par le Cégep Saint-Laurent. Elle aura lieu le samedi 26 avril à 14h dans lle local B-236 (salle 1) de l'école secondaire Le boisé. Guillaume Villeneuve explore un vaste répertoire, du baroque au contemporain, avec une spécialisation en instruments historiques. Lauréat du prix Opus « Découverte de l’année » 2023, il est membre fondateur et directeur artistique du Quatuor Cobalt, en résidence à la Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur en 2022-2023. Le quatuor se produit dans des salles prestigieuses comme le Massey Hall et le Palais Montcalm. Concertiste prolifique, Guillaume joue régulièrement au Canada et à l'international. Invité aux prestigieux festivals de Saintes et de Menton, il a fondé un duo avec le renommé claveciniste Luc Beauséjour. Guillaume collabore comme violon solo avec des ensembles réputés tels Caprice, l’Harmonie des saisons et FilmHarmonique. Récemment, il a interprété le triple concerto de Beethoven sur instruments d’époques ainsi que le concerto « Les amants papillons » de Gang et Zhanhao à la Maison Symphonique de Montréal en 2025. Guillaume est lauréat de nombreuses distinctions, dont le Premier Prix du concours international de musique ancienne Mathieu Duguay. Diplômé de McGillet de l’Université de Montréal, il a étudié avec Annick Roussin, Jean-François Rivest et Jinjoo Cho.Engagé dans la démocratisation des arts, Guillaume a cofondé la série « Les ruelles musicales» avec le Quatuor Cobalt, initiativevisant à rapprocher la musique des Montréalais. Guillaume enseigne le violon au Cégep de Saint-Laurent. Il joue un violon Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (1866) et un archet Arthur Copley (1955), gracieusement prêtés par Canimex inc.
