Lucette with Brock Geiger | Festival Hall

May 2, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Calgary
Music
Concerts
Presented by Calgary Folk Music Festival The 2014 debut Black is the Color from Lucette, the stage moniker of Edmonton-born Lauren Gillis, unveiled a clever songwriter steeped in rustic roots/Americana traditions…with a tinge of spacey indie pop. It caught the ears of Sturgill Simpson, who produced her sophomore release Deluxe Hotel Room. Lucette’s upcoming EP Nice Girl From the Suburbs (out March 21) was a collaborative creation over zoom with producer Soren Hansen (New Politics, Elle King, Sam Palladio). An intimately personal release, it expands Lucette’s musical repertoire with sonic inspirations from ‘90s dream pop and alt rock, pairing introspective lyrics with lush, anthemic production. It explores themes of lost love and self- awareness—often infused with self-deprecating humour—and the joy found in new love, with songs that reflect on being in a dark place plus the recognition that it’s kind of human to be your own worst enemy. May 2nd, 2025 Festival Hall Doors: 7:00 pm; Show: 8:00 pm All Ages / Licensed Advance tickets: $30 + fees and taxes This is a seated event. Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis. ✨ ANAGKAZO – Compelled by His Mercy, Driven by His Love There are moments in life when God's mercy reaches so deeply, it pulls us out of the darkest places and sets us on solid ground. That’s the heart of Anagkazo —a call birthed from the breakthrough we’ve received, compelling us to reach others with the same grace that lifted us. “He stooped down to lift me out of danger from the desolate pit I was in, out of the muddy mess I had fallen into. Now he’s lifted me up into a firm, secure place and steadied me while I walk along his ascending path. A new song for a new day rises up in me every time I think about how he breaks through for me! Ecstatic praise pours out of my mouth until everyone hears how God has set me free. Many will see his miracles; they’ll stand in awe of God and fall in love with him!” — Psalm 40:2–3 (TPT) Anagkazo is the overflow of this encounter—the praise that can’t be contained, the freedom that must be shared, the miracle that draws us to the feet of Jesus.
