The exhibition "Golden Thread. The art of dressing from north Africa to the far east", on show at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac until 6 July 2025, focuses on gold in the textile arts from Antiquity to the present day. This plunge into the history of this fascinating and precious metal takes visitors on a journey around the globe, from North Africa to the Middle East, via Japan, China and India. The exhibition also highlights the richness, technicality, inventiveness and expertise of the weavers, embroiderers and craftsmen who have been sublimating fabrics and silks since the dawn of time. This is a unique opportunity to admire a selection of traditional and ceremonial outfits, festive and wedding dresses from North Africa and the Orient, drapes and sparkling costumes from Asia and India, kimonos from the Edo period... and many other textile treasures. Modern creations by Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei are also on show.

Through an exceptional collection of nearly 230 works, "L'art est dans la rue" explores the spectacular rise of the illustrated poster in Paris during the second half of the 19th century. Organized in partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the exhibition is the first of its kind on this scale. In fact, no major event in Paris has ever been devoted to this social phenomenon, bringing together so many outstanding works by the "Masters of the Poster". Bonnard, Chéret, Grasset, Mucha, Steinlen, Toulouse-Lautrec... Conceived as an immersion into the visual universe of the 19th century city, the exhibition traces the golden age of the artistic poster, analyzing the social and cultural changes that favored its development, in dialogue with a unique collection of posters, paintings, photographs, costumes, sculptures and decorative objects that evoke the exuberant world of the street at the turn of the century.

The exhibition "Lucas Arruda. Qu’importe le paysage" at the Musée d’Orsay is the first monographic exhibition at a French museum to be devoted to this emblematic figure on Brazil’s contemporary art scene. A true master of pictorial gesture, he has developed his work around light, consistently depicting landscapes and taking a rigorous approach that leads him from figuration to abstraction.

Jeanne Vicerial, the young and sensationally talented French textile artist, has a new show at TEMPLON Paris where she unveils the result of two years spent exploring the notion of metamorphosis. For the Pupation exhibition, Vicerial fills the gallery’s original space in Rue Beaubourg in Paris with her “presences”, the large sculptures in crocheted or smoothed black thread that are so characteristic of her practice.

With the group exhibition Worlds Unfolded, Galerie Maria Wettergren focuses on the fold as a structural and dynamic principle, through a large selection of works spanning textile art, crafts, design, and photography. It is, not surprisingly, in textile art that the fold has fully flourished as a physical and conceptual phenomenon, opening up new ways of forming and thinking. Amongst other renowned artists, Worlds Unfolded presents Margrethe Odgaard’s latest series, Ophelia Letters, consisting of large “letters” made from multiple layers of 100% silk organza, structured by concave and convex folds that counterbalance the vibrating, fleeting nature of color as it is transfigured by light. The layered silk — in hues that shift with light and folds that open into shadow — transforms Odgaard’s emotional landscape into a tactile, ever-changing luminous experience. The idea of transformation through the fold is central to the exhibition. From dense, organic textile sculptures to minimal, architectural furniture, each work demonstrates how the fold can shape matter and emotion alike. Worlds Unfolded presents the fold not only as a formal gesture but as a way of sensing and shaping the world — revealing a quiet but powerful interplay between material, light, and transformation.

“Chaosmos” is an invitation to 12 artists to tell us about the cosmos and invent new ways of inhabiting the Earth. Welcome to Chaosmos, a world that deconstructs, in order to better reconstruct, in time and space, the place in the universe that we attribute to ourselves and the way in which we inhabit the world, the traces that we leave there, the links that we establish there. From this precariously balanced zone emerge the works of twelve contemporary artists, from several countries around the world: South Africa, Belgium, Canada, Spain, France, Guyana, Japan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia. They evoke the relationship between our conception of the cosmos and our attitude towards the preservation of life on Earth.

Thanks to the cooperation of many important institutions, the exhibition "Tous Léger!" is on display at the Luxembourg Museum. The exhibition is curated based on the museum's existing collection, and the works of modern art pioneer Fernand Léger (1881-1955) are in dialogue with the works of European and American avant-garde artists from the 1960s to the present. The title of the exhibition has multiple meanings: on the one hand, it directly refers to Fernand Léger's name Léger, emphasizing his central position in the exhibition, while also implying the approachability and integration of art advocated by Léger and his new realism movement into daily life, suggesting a "light (Léger)" and unpretentious attitude.

Galerie Lelong presents Sweet Life, the first solo exhibition in Europe by American artist Alison Saar, whose poetic yet critical approach explores the complex history of sugar cane in America and its links to Africa and Europe. Through a series of sculptures, paintings and prints, the artist unfolds a visual narrative in which the bitter irony of the title underlines the brutality of the historical reality it evokes: European and American prosperity built on the exploitation of deported African populations.

In the spring of 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton will be inviting David Hockney into all its exhibition spaces, with over 400 works dating from 1955 to 2025. To mark the occasion, Galerie Lelong, which has represented the artist for many years, is staging an exhibition of his prints - portraits and still lifes - in its space dedicaded to prints downstairs and in the salon upstairs, at 13 rue de Téhéran.

Iván Navarro invests TEMPLON’s space with Cyclops, a luminous odyssey between myth, cosmos and power. As his ambitious project for the Grand Paris Express, which has been in development for nearly a decade, is set to be unveiled in 2026, Chilean artist Iván Navarro, renowned for his light works, makes his first show in the space on Rue du Grenier-Saint-Lazare. For the Cyclops exhibition, he is displaying a series of 14 electric sculptures, which transform the space through hypnotic optical effects. Oscillating between celestial phenomena and reflections on power relations, Navarro offers an intense sensory and symbolic immersion.

A pioneer of the Light and Space movement of Southern California, Robert Irwin’s deeply philosophical work encourages the viewer to attune their sensations to the world around them. Conditional Art, as he called it, is radically responsive and integral to its environment, to the point of atomising the art object. His innovations, over seven decades, have been hugely influential, and Irwin is perhaps best known for installations that delicately choreograph the light and dimensions of space through the most sparing, exacting and inconspicuous of means. ‘The subject of art’, he said, ‘is the human potential for an aesthetic awareness (perspective).’

Marian Goodman Gallery presents for the first time a solo show by Peter Fillingham featuring a new group of sculptural works that resonate with memory and history. Working primarily with found materials—objects often dismissed for their low cultural or economic value—Fillingham transforms the overlooked into sculptural forms and installations that carry a sense of theatricality. Rooted in the margins, both geographic and material, his practice exists where art coexists with everyday life. He draws inspiration from the structures and systems that operate behind the scenes in zones of transit, trade, and daily exchange, where colors are haphazard and materials give rise to unintentional sculptural ‘events.’

Esther Schipper Gallery presented Martin Boyce's solo exhibition "Unhome" in its Paris space on May 23. This is the artist's second solo exhibition at Sprüth Magers Gallery and his first exhibition in the gallery's Paris space. The exhibition is part of a dual exhibition project during Paris Gallery Weekend, with the artist's other exhibition "Walk with Me" held at Galerie Natalie Seroussi.

Schipper Gallery is pleased to announce Martin Boyce’s exhibition “Walk with Me” at Galerie Natalie Seroussi. The exhibition will be held concurrently with the artist’s solo exhibition “Unhome” at Schipper Gallery. The title “Walk with Me” is taken from David Lynch’s 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, an iconic film known for its mysterious atmosphere and refusal to be interpreted in a single way. Like Lynch’s work, Martin Boyce’s work incorporates ambiguity and uncertainty, inviting the viewer into a dramatic, disorienting, and emotionally dense dialogue. This also echoes the creative attitude of the Surrealist artists, many of whom are carefully selected by Boyce from the Natalie Seroussi Gallery collection to be presented together with his works.

A laureate of the 2024 Villa Kujoyama residency, Ulla von Brandenburg spent five months in Japan, where she deepened her understanding of Japanese culture and explored traditional textile techniques. As an extension of her research on shadows, the artist invites us to rethink how we inhabit thresholds. The works produced during her residency transform the gallery into a site for experiencing grey zones— liminal, ambiguous, and porous spaces.

Galerie Peter Kilchmann Zurich presents the second solo exhibition with new works by Swiss painter Valentin Rilliet (b.1996, Geneva, Switzerland, where he lives and works). The artist was previously featured in the group show Three New Positions, featuring emerging artists in 2023, and his first solo exhibition Mountain Stories, in the following year, 2024. The Dream Synopsis is the artist’s first exhibition in Paris.
