Sunday Morning Labyrinth Walk | St. Paul's Anglican Church

May 25, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Vancouver
Cultural Experiences
The Labyrinth at St. Paul's Anglican Church is open to walk every Sunday morning from 10am to noon. All are welcome and encouraged to come experience the contemplative journey of the labyrinth. May you release what no longer serves you and receive that which you need. Labyrinth walking is an ancient meditation practice used by many different cultures for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. For many, it is a way of centering themselves or of seeking insight during times of transition in their lives. The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Walk at your own pace, releasing that which no longer serves you as you walk toward the centre and receiving whatever it is you need as you follow the same path out. Our indoor labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth laid in the stone floor of the 13th-century Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Chartres in France. If you are new to labyrinth walking, please feel free to let our volunteers know and they will be happy to give you an introduction to the space and practice. If you feel drawn to, choose one of the wisdom stones to carry as you walk. We welcome contributions to our Prayer Wall, and paper / pens are provided. Some feel called to journal after they walk if this is a practice you cherish. Please note that shoes must be removed while in the labyrinth space. Cash donations for labyrinth upkeep on-site are appreciated, but not required. Chairs are provided for those who would prefer to visit without walking . You are welcome to bring bottled water but no other food and beverages are permitted in the space. "The unicursal path of the labyrinth is what differentiates it and sets it apart as a spiritual tool. The labyrinth does not engage our thinking minds. It invites our intuitive, pattern-seeking, symbolic mind to come forth. It presents us with only one, but profound, choice. To enter a labyrinth is to choose to walk a spiritual path.” ― Dr. Lauren Artress Information Source: St. Paul's Anglican Church | eventbrite

The Rickshaw presents Blitzen Trapperwith guest, Clay OrangeMay 29th, 2025The Rickshaw Theatre19+Doors: 7:00pmBlitzen TrapperBlitzen Trapper's new album - 100's of 1000's, Millions of Billions - offers a captivating take on rebirth and transcendence, and the circularity of existence, navigating its way through the space beyond dreams and reality, beyond gods and mortals, beyond life and death. The songs here are as sincere as they are surreal, rooted in rich character studies and deep reflection, and unfolding like a riddle-filled journey that asks many questions and offers no answers. The production is intoxicating to match, blending lo-fi intimacy and trippy psychedelia into a mesmerizing swirl of analog and electronic sounds. Add it all together and the result is a gorgeous, sprawling collection wrapped in lush layers of synthesizers and washed out electric guitars–a poignant, expansive exploration of perception and purpose that manages to look both forwards and backwards all at once. Launched roughly two decades ago in Portland, OR, Blitzen Trapper garnered early attention with a series of self-released albums before breaking out internationally with a pair of critically acclaimed LPs (2007’s Wild Mountain Nation and 2008’s Furr) that would cement their status at the forefront of the modern indie folk revival. Rolling Stone hailed the band’s “hazy, psychedelic Americana,” while NPR praised their “explosive live performances and infectious roots-rock swagger,” and The New York Times compared their songs to Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young. www.blitzentrapper.net Clay OrangeClay Orange is the moniker of Vancouver-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ross Macnab, whose quiet evolution from local psych-rock collaborator to introspective solo artist marks a significant shift in tone and texture. After several formative years with the band Tanglers, Macnab’s work as Clay Orange feels like the start of a more personal conversation — one rooted less in the collective pulse of a jam and more in the subtle details of reflection, memory, melody and rhythm. Clay Orange’s sound threads together strands of indie folk, soul, and alt-rock with a gentle hand, often performed in rotating lineups that serve the songs more than any fixed identity. Lyrically, Macnab gravitates toward themes of everyday introspection — reflecting on memory, uncertainty, the natural world, and the quiet shifts in our inner lives, delivered with restraint rather than spectacle. His debut full-length, Deeply, arrived in 2024, a self-released collection that earned attention for its warmth and honesty. A follow-up is currently in the works, with a tentative release planned for later this year. clayorange.bandcamp.com RSVP on FacebookRefund PolicyNo refunds, unless event is cancelled.
