The Gemäldegalerie is showcasing 60 paintings from the Museum of Western and Eastern Art in Odesa, the famous port city in the south of Ukraine that has in recent years been ravaged by war. The artworks in question were evacuated from the city before the onset of war and transferred to safety in Berlin, where they will be brought into dialogue with paintings from the collections of Berlin’s museums. The large-scale special exhibition, which follows on from a small preview presentation in the spring of 2024, is an extraordinary collaborative project funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

The Berlin Kupferstichkabinett is home to an impressive collection of modern art, including works by Edvard Munch, Käthe Kollwitz and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. But what is less widely known is that the artists of Der Blaue Reiter also left behind a remarkable legacy of their own. In my music studio, we will learn how to play together- using the traditional Brazilian Batucada music: We will start with an introduction- briefly talking about the art form and getting inspired using some representative band examples, after which we'll jump right into learning how the band works and what it is made of, learn how to play the different percussion instruments, how they interplay with one another, how to follow the leader of the band and react to others, and some general musical terms and concepts along the way. Nach einem einstimmig gewonnenen Probespiel wurde der 22-jährige Student zum jüngsten 1. Konzertmeister der Staatskapelle Berlin gewählt. Er hat sich ein umfangreiches Repertoire erworben, welches neben der Violinliteratur von Barock bis Moderne, den Zyklen aller Sinfonien von Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Mahler, Bruckner und vielen anderen sinfonischen Werken auch über 50 Opern und Ballette einschließt. Gastspiele mit der Staatskapelle Berlin unter Otmar Suitner, Daniel Barenboim und Christian Thielemann führten ihn in viele Konzertsäle der deutschen Kulturlandschaft, die meisten europäischen Musikzentren, in den Nahen Osten, zu den bedeutendsten Sälen Asiens sowie nach Nord-, Mittel- und Südamerika. Seit über 40 Jahren widmet er sich den nachkommenden Generationen. Ihr Debütroman MEIN BRUDER (2021) als erster Teil einer Trilogie wurde für den renommierten schwedischen Augustpreis nominiert und in zehn Länder verkauft. 2023 erschien WUNDERKIND. 2021 übernahm sie den Staffelstab für die Fortsetzung der Millennium-Trilogie und hat seitdem mit VERDERBEN und VERGELTUNG zwei Bände in der Reihe veröffentlicht. Eine Veranstaltung des Schwedischlektorats am Nordeuropa-Institut der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Zusammenarbeit mit der Schwedischen Botschaft und mit Unterstützung von Swedish Arts Council. Mit “geRecht” präsentieren wir eine sinnlich-analoge immersive Filminstallation im Theater. Vor dem Hintergrund der aktuell entfesselten Migrationsdebatte taucht diese Arbeit tief ein in die hoch komplexe und (noch) unabhängige Welt der Gerichte, wo die Auswirkungen neuer Asylgesetze sofort spürbar sind. Raumhohe, sich überlagernde Videoprojektionen, echte Bühnenelemente und ein mehrkanaliges Soundsystem schaffen ein immersives, intimes und intensives Bühnenerlebnis. In Episode 2 erleben wir mit Richterin Katharina Baumann (Corinna Harfouch) eine neue Krise vor Gericht. Als ein erfolgreicher afghanischer Asylrechts-Kläger von gestern plötzlich unter Terrorverdacht steht, werden die Prinzipien aller Beteiligten unter dem Einfluss der Politik und dem Druck der Medien auf die Probe gestellt. In dieser Situation wird die Richterin von ihrer Vergangenheit eingeholt, da sie sich in der jungen Azade Jahangiri (Anke Retzlaff) wiedererkennt, die nach ihrer Flucht aus Afghanistan und Iran mutig gegen die Ablehnung ihres Asylantrags klagt. Gleichzeitig katapultiert sie die rechtsextreme Tochter einer alten Freundin in die Vision einer düsteren Zukunft. Durch die Begegnung mit der jungen Klägerin vermischen sich die private und die berufliche Sphäre von Richterin Baumann. Am Ende erklärt sie die Idee von Gerechtigkeit innerhalb des deutschen Asylsystems zum Mythos und erkennt ihre persönliche Verantwortung als Richterin und als Mensch.
