On 6 December, we want to look back at the Ornamenta 2024, regional cultural programme in Germany’s Northern Black Forest, and celebrate the launch of Tubelight's new magazine issue, including an extensive article on Ornamenta. During the event, we zoom out of the cultural programme in the Northern Black Forest and reflect on international cultural collaborations and programming taking place in provincial areas. We discuss the impact of international programming on local populations and how local cultural scenes enrich international art biennales. We talk about what aftercare could look like when setting up collaborations with local partners in provincial areas in other countries. Lastly, we want to find out how to maintain sustainable partnerships and ensure long-term impact. The speakers will be Yvonne Dröge Wendel, acclaimed artist and, since 2009, head of the Fine Arts deparment at the Gerrit Rietveld Acadmie in Amsterdam and curator, exhibition maker and film- and performance director Jules van den Langenberg. He was part of the curatorial team of the Ornamenta 2024. The event will be moderated by creative advisor at DutchCulture Astrid Mörk. That's a joke of course; he never makes jokes about his wife. He's performed at multiple cities across India, alongside some of the biggest names in the Indian comedy scene. Kuriakose has also appeared on Comedy Central India's Sterling Reserve Comedy Project in 2019 and is a regular feature at comedy festivals in the Netherlands. Elena Popa 'Mine are clean jokes, I don't swear or talk about sex (on purpose). I like to talk about my own experiences and how I see things, so I would describe it as an observational sort of storytell-ing. Elena Popa is the winner of the December edition of TUNA! The Tiny Underground New-bie Award was well deserved, winning the jury vote and coming in second with the audience vote. Winnie Hänschen Winnie is a stand-up comedian from the Netherlands. She's worked in theatre for over a dec-ade as a playwright and performer and has a solo under her belt. She performs and writes in Dutch and English, used the many lockdowns to write a book and has a comedy podcast in the making, but very happy to get back out on stage now we can! Enikő Varga Eniko is an Amsterdam based comedian, originally coming from the world of improvi-sation. In her standup she is trying to understand the world, asking questions which are not being asked often enough in her view. See you there! Taught by Eniko Varga. ● Do you enjoy the special wibe of Girl’s night? ● Do you tell yourself you’re not funny and you are nervous to do something creative? ● Do you tell yourself you’re very funny and can’t wait to try yourself out in comedy? Yes? :) Then this 3-hour beginner stand-up workshop for ladies might be just for you :) First we will do some exercises which help to get in touch with your creativity. Then we will have a brief introduction into standup comedy through brainstorming and writing exercises. We will then look into how to generate ideas beyond mainstream female comedy topics (which are for example dating, body hair, sex, your home country versus where you now live if you’re an expat). I believe we can find the FUN in anything if we look for it and go deep in one topic. You can write a set about a bathroom floor which is difficult to clean, or try to make up jokes building on Buddhist wisdom patterns, there’s so much room for your unique content and point of view! Throughout the 3 hours we will gradually move from feeling awkward towards laughing and having fun.
