Whether you're a beginner or an experienced designer, this immersive, one-of-a-kind block printing workshop is perfect for anyone who appreciates craftsmanship, sustainability, and creativity. Open Print + Slow Craft is our immersive, experimental Block Print Berlin workshop. It is a longer workshop where we explore different print surfaces, more colours, and experimental techniques. Open Print + Slow Craft is our more advanced workshop. In this workshop, we break the rules, creatively! Open Print + Slow CraftA signature Māya experience and a creative space to explore block printing at your own pace. This is a unique, eco-friendly textile design workshop in Berlin. We offer experimental eco-craft sessions exploring block printing, sustainable design, and textile storytelling. Bring your ideas to life on fabric, and experiment with colours, patterns and textures. We welcome creative exploration and offer a variety of print surfaces to test print and explore. We also offer access to our Craft Your Art line and textiles from our RE-CREATE collection, our growing upcycling archive. We cross-pollinate. We explore eco-crafting, slow crafts, mark-making, painting, printing and stitching, and of course storytelling with textiles. What you’ll learn: - The history and modern applications of woodblock printing. - How to create handprinted designs. - How to print repeat patterns with hand-carved woodblocks and eco-friendly inks. - How to layer your prints. - Techniques for printing on organic cotton fabrics and natural Khadi paper. - Learn to create sustainable art pieces and learn eco-crafting techniques. - We will share more about our passion for wearable and functional art. - We will inspire you to recycle clothing by printing and revamping your closet. How we work and what you’ll work with:- This is a longer and more immersive workshop - All materials for the workshops are provided. - A curated collection of hand-carved blocks. - Non-toxic, biodegradable and eco-friendly inks for safe and sustainable printing. - We offer our in-house colours that we mix for each workshop series. - All the tools you need: brushes, dampers, scissors, rulers, pencils, irons and aprons. - Selection of cotton fabric for test prints: our #FLOW test prints are a hit. - Choose from our “Craft Your Art Collection” of products to print on; products are specific to each workshop, we have something special for everyone. - Choose from our RE-CREATE archive of textile surfaces and products to print on; products are specific to each workshop, we have something special for everyone. - Additional print surfaces are always available if time allows, even in the shorter workshops. What you’ll take home:You can choose your print surface for your hand-printed functional and wearable art. - We print tea towels, organic maxi tote bags, bandanas and Furoshikis. - Our new print surfaces include pillow cases, yoga bags, yoga mat bags, headscarves, table napkins, table runners and natural paper. - All your #FLOW test print surfaces, for your growing Māya #FLOW collection. - A deeper understanding of sustainable crafting techniques. - The confidence to continue exploring eco-friendly art and design. - A new outlook on textiles and sustainability and joining a growing community.
