AärdCON 2025 Workshop 5 // An Adventure in Voice Acting w/ The Mercenary Co | Renfrew Community Association
Jun 7, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Calgary
Sit down with two professional voice actors and co-founders of The Mercenary Co., and go through a live performance script with them! Bring your voice acting industry questions, reading glasses and acting chops, because you're gonna need 'em.
The Mercenary Co. started as an independent film producer making original Canadian content, which shifted to focus on voice-over during the COVID-19 pandemic. We now offer full in-house audio production for everything clients would typically need -- writers, directors, producers, casting directors, audio engineers, and more. On the creative side of the house, we also have a voice-acting school to train up new talent. The Mercenary Co. delivers killer performances every time.

AärdCON 2025 Game 2 // XCrawl Riot in the Red Mile w/ Shane Kablooey | Renfrew Community Association
Jun 7, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Calgary
"In Xcrawl, the players are superstar athletes taking their chances in a live-on-pay-per-view death sport. It’s a modern-day world with a fantasy twist, and the game is simple: the Dungeon Judge, or DJ, creates an artificial dungeon under controlled – but lethal – conditions. He designs the maze, and stocks it with monsters, secret doors, magical traps, treasure and prizes. The players must go through the dungeon and fulfill whatever conditions the DJ puts forth in order to win."
This game will be run by local legend Shane "Kablooey" Madgett and is a dungeon dive set in Calgary. It will be a playtest for his upcoming Calgary based XCRAWL Funnel. No experience is needed, but this will be a more crunchier game with some focus on rules, so come prepared to learn. Recommended for ages 14+
