Dan (aka Loss, Fail, If, TIWIHWYT) has been a stalwart of the industrial, ambient, noise scene for over 20years, with releases on highly respected labels Ant-Zen, Spectre and live shows as part of the legendary Maschinenfest (Germany). In their own words: Producer. Anti-fascist. Egalitarian. Noisician. Performer. Remixer. Ally. Label operator. Mental health advocate, supporter, and sufferer. Owned by cats. Possibly an elite clowder of 13 orange tabbies who link together like Voltron to form a weirdo meatbot. In and out of bands since the ‘90s, we started experimenting with noise in the mid ‘90s and producing music and noise ourselves in ‘02 or ‘03. Many unpopular projects, many overlooked releases, few that appreciate any of them. My mom thinks most of it sucks. Cats, noise, music, mental health, cats, support, authenticity, and cats. Not necessarily in that order. Also, cats. I remix, am remixed and may be interested in splits/collaborations with the right people. Also, I’d probably be into working on music/sound for games or film. https://www.innerdemonsrecords.com/ BMH (Black Magic Holiday) From the surreal mind/ auteur of the avant garde, Kate Bosworth (Dark Train Radio host) and her sonic co-conspirator of mischief Matt Jetten, BMH sound like two mad scientists harnessing field recordings, analogue walls of sound, loops, mayhem, a sparkle of anti-fascist fairy dust and rhythmic beats and pulses to warp the brain and unsettle the soul. With releases on Irregular Patterns, Adventurous Music, Front & Follow and a recent appearance in Electronic Sounds Magazine. Queer as Clay | Studio KIND. at The Corn Store

May 31, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Barnstaple
Arts
Sculpture
This workshop invites participants to engage with clay in an open, exploratory way—free from the expectation of producing a specific outcome. As a group, attendees will explore the queer nature of clay through actions such as squishing, moulding, folding, connecting, and layering the material. The session primarily involves working with clay using hands, though participants are welcome to incorporate other parts of their body into the process if they feel comfortable. Observing without participating is also completely welcome. The atmosphere will be relaxed and informal, with tea provided. Following a short introduction, the group will spend approximately an hour working with clay on the floor. The facilitator will guide a series of exercises designed to encourage instinctive, playful engagement with the material. There is no pressure to achieve a particular result, nor to interact with the clay or group in any set way—the focus is on personal experience and enjoyment. By the end of the session, the group will have co-created a new presence in the space: a clay mass that has been collectively queered into being. The final part of the workshop will offer space for informal discussion about each participant’s experience, along with the opportunity to document the resulting clay form through quick observational drawings. Please note this workshop is only for people who identify as FLINTA (female, lesbian, intersex, nonbinary, trans and agender). About the artist: Lauren McNicoll was born in Kent (1995) and currently based in south London. Her practice combines multiple disciplines and encompasses a space that sits between sculpture, performance, and workshop. Her research is rooted in queerness, community, and feminism, and grapples with the ways in which history and societal expectations play out in interpersonal encounters. Arts
Craft
In this stencil-based screen-printing workshop, participants will explore the art of creating layered screen prints under the expert guidance of Tushka (Chrissy Mouncey). The session begins with designing and refining a minimum of two-layer stencils, which will then be hand-cut. Attendees will experiment with vibrant color blends, gradients, and monoprinting techniques, adding intricate details by painting directly onto the screen. The workshop welcomes all abilities, from beginners to those with screen-printing experience who wish to expand their skills and explore stencil techniques. While all materials are provided, participants are encouraged to bring images, sketchbooks, or anything that sparks their creativity—or simply arrive ready to be inspired. Tushka (Chrissy Mouncey) has been screen printing since she moved to Devon, inspired by the environment around her and producing prints that are inspired by light, colour, nature, beauty, weather, awe, movement and inspiration from the great outdoors. Keen to show the benefits of being submerged in the natural world for well being and mindset, she often includes figures in her prints engaging with the outdoors in activities such as sea swimming or surfing. Birds are also prominent in her prints as well as a focus on light. Having studied Fine Art and English, Tushka further developed her screen printing craft through courses at print workshops including the East London Printmakers, Double Elephant in Exeter and two years developing her skill and ideas at Spike Print Studio in Bristol. She exhibits locally and was also short listed for the 2024 Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
