Tuas Seafood Village vs Tuas Industrial Estate & Tuas TV World demolition | Joo Koon Circle, Joo Koon MRT Station (EW29), Singapore
May 24, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
The Tuas Seafood Village is history – with almost nothing to show for her past glory. Meanwhile, the mighty Tuas Industrial Estate rages on - almost threatening to extend the coastline further out to sea. Someday soon, the Tuas Megaport will change the map (and silhouette) at our “Western Frontline”.
On our tour today, we will cover all the 3 iconic landmarks that was once a farmland, or swampland.
Tuas Seafood Village
was a favorite haunt for people working at the Jurong/Tuas areas. The locals here called it “Chap Pwek Koh”, a Hokkien term for the “18th Milestone” of Jurong. It was then a long lonely road ending here at Tuas Seafood Village.
The lunch time crowds and diners are but a distant memory. And for those who still remember, dinner meant an easy simple menu when “food fusion” has yet to arrive. The open-air alfresco seating was an added bonus - with the sea and wind in your hair.
Tuas Industrial Estate
on the other hand is bustling away non-stop. From land reclamation to new factories big and small, Tuas is now a mega pot of gold for both big time and small-time industrialists. It is envisaged that Tuas will take us into the future for a good many decades!
Meanwhile
Tuas TV World
is doomed for demolition. Once a “mini” Hollywood (if I may use that word), Tuas TV World is now demolished. According to sources, it has run its course and is now too expensive to keep. The movie direction has now changed and is now in a different mode. Tuas TV World is now but an industrial construction worksite.
We meet at Joo Koon MRT at 9am, 24
th
May 2025 (SATURDAY). This tour will end at Raffles Marina (Tuas Link MRT).
Note:
We do the worldwide practice of tipping at the end of the tour. Tipping guide as follows: $20 for a satisfactory guide, $20+ for a guide who exceeds expectations, and $30 for an outstanding guide.
We also reserve the right to accept or reject habitual late cancellations and no-shows.
Call or message Uncle Chris at +65 91814298 for corporate, private, or student bookings.
Do not sign up for this tour if you are not sure of your schedule. Please understand this method of booking platform can only perform its best with your full sincerity. Sign up only when you are sure of your schedule.

Debra Armstrong, Ettiquette Instructor Li Ching is a talented artist and skilful teacher. She wins us over with her patience and a big heart who generously shares her passion for painting and art techniques honed over many first-hand experiences creating beautiful works of art. She customizes her teaching and lifts us feeling energized, inspired and encouraged to paint better after her classes with the aim of progressing systematically towards ‘unconscious competence! Best investment of time and resources if you are looking at learning Watercolour painting and art appreciation while having fun at the same time… choose wisely and attend her classes first. Teo Ching Ling, Educator Leach is my first professional watercolour teacher and I'm so thrilled that I could finally attend her class after waiting for years! She is extra-ordinary for she teaches us to fish, very generous in sharing her knowledge and resources, systematic in teaching us the basic + techniques and the Science behind painting. Leach is a very passionate and authentic teacher and the memory of our laughters and sharing of life experiences make the lessons so memorable. I am already feeling the 'withdrawal symptoms' after our last lesson with her. Thank you Leach for investing in us. I am looking forward to more lessons with you! Love from Karine

Kirtan: An Afternoon of Heart-Opening Music and Meditation | Yoga Story
May 24, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
What is Kirtan?
Kirtan (pronounced *keer-tahn*) is a form of devotional singing that comes from the Bhakti yoga tradition—often called the yoga of the heart. Unlike a typical concert, Kirtan is a participatory experience where call-and-response chanting blends with live music to create a shared, uplifting atmosphere. You don’t need to be a singer, spiritual, or even flexible—just bring your voice and an open heart.
Why Kirtan Matters:
In today’s busy world, it’s easy to get stuck in our heads. Kirtan is an invitation to drop into the present moment, connect with yourself and others, and experience joy, stillness, and community through sound. The repetition of simple mantras (ancient sound formulas) helps quiet the mind and open the heart, creating a powerful sense of peace and inner connection.
What to Expect:
- Gentle guidance and a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
- Live music (harmonium, drums, and more!)
- Easy-to-follow chants—no experience necessary
- Opportunities to sing, sway, or simply listen and soak it in
- A closing moment of silence or short meditation to ground the experience
- Herbal tea and sharing circle to close with conscious connection
Whether you’re curious about yoga, love music, or just need a space to unwind and reconnect, this afternoon of Kirtan offers a beautiful way to tune in, sing out, and feel more alive.
All are welcome—no singing or yoga experience required.
Reserve your spot today and come sing your heart open!

Singapore City Tour | Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, Singapore
May 25, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
This is a tour where all of us will be walking on what was once upon a time, the sea. It is surreal, but yes, this walk is 90% done on what was once water. Along the way, we’ll see, “touch and feel” the “past” of Singapore History. With this tour, your ole Uncle Chris will take you through the years from the early 1800s to 2025. The beautiful sight-seeing is but a bonus.
There’s plenty of highlights along the way. We’ll start the tour with “Scandal Point”, which doesn’t exist now. It was demolished and its “contents” was used as landfills for the surrounding areas where we’ll be walking. Scandal Point was once upon a time a hill, or knoll – which may be a better word.
We’ll reimagine the site of the former Satay Club when life was simpler. From here, we’ll deviate into our real Singapore City where life began back on the 6th February 1819 – which (frankly) isn’t exactly quite true – the indigenous Orang Lauts and Malays were already here way before the British arrived. But yes, it is true that Sir Stamford Raffles and William Farquhar did put Singapore on the world map.
We meet 9am (25
th
May 2025), at Toastbox (ground floor) at The Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay.
The nearest MRT is Esplanade, (or you can also come by Citylink - City Hall MRT). This tour will end at Telok Ayer Street, where many of our ancestors landed years ago…many penniless….
We look forward to your graciousness and generosity!
