Cultural Experiences
《吕氏春秋》 (Lüshi Chunqiu) , an ancient Chinese text, taught rulers to balance priorities, act with foresight, and cultivate lasting prosperity—principles every modern leader needs. In today’s volatile economy, finance plays a parallel role —it is no longer just about balancing books, but steering businesses with foresight and intent. Financials have become the language of strategy, and business leaders are now expected to make sense of numbers and translate them into meaningful action. They then attain the edge of making smarter decisions, championing stronger business cases, and driving sustainable growth. This workshop equips you with the financial lens to govern wisely, adapt decisively, and create value especially in uncertain times. It’s not about becoming a finance expert; it’s about using finance as your strategic ally. Workshop Highlights 1. Laying the Foundations How can leaders balance competing priorities (profit, ESG, stakeholders)? 2. Anticipating Shifts How can leaders master change through forecast and foresight? 3. Creating Value How can leaders go beyond "value protection" to become architects of growth? How would you balance priorities, act with foresight, and cultivate lasting prosperity for your business? Equip yourself with the tools to lead your business confidently and successfully through times of uncertainty. By attending this workshop, you’ll get a 1-hour complimentary consulting session with our experts, where we dive deeper into your business’s unique financial challenges and uncover tailored strategies for growth. Shadows Over Outram The past never dies—it just hides in plain sight. Outram bears many names. A medical hub. A colonial relic. A hill of secrets. But after dark, another name rises—Singapore’s most haunted district. This is a journey into the unseen. Through flickering corridors, winding alleyways, and pockets of vanishing history, we reveal a district haunted not just by spirits, but by memory and neglect. We begin at Spooner Road, where echoing footsteps and strange apparitions have long plagued the residents. Once railway quarters for Malayan Railways, now a near-abandoned ghost estate, it tells stories of loneliness, despair, and things that never left. Then we make our way to Pearl’s Hill Terrace—once a bustling police barracks, now a decaying colonial holdout with long corridors that creak with more than just time. Here, multiple accounts speak of doors slamming on their own, disembodied voices, and cold spots with no explanation. As we uncover the forgotten lore of this quarter—of hidden cells, secret tunnels, and lingering wartime trauma—you’ll see a different side of Outram. One where the ghosts are both literal and metaphorical. Information Source: SOMETHING STRANGE FESTIVAL (SSF) | eventbrite

From France with Franz | Esplanade Recital Studio

Jun 30, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
Concerts
Classical
Join the Oceanus Trio for an evening of exquisite chamber music. From France with Franz brings together the works of Gabriel Fauré and Franz Schubert , spanning the dawn and dusk of the Romantic period. Anchoring the program are Schubert’s Piano Trio in B-flat Major and Fauré’s Piano Trio in D Minor , two contrasting works that beautifully complement each other. Schubert’s harmonic clarity and structural finesse provide a striking contrast to Fauré’s expressive lyricism and uniquely colorful harmonies. Fauré (1845-1924), was born while Chopin was still composing, and he lived to see the emergence of jazz and atonal music. Though less widely celebrated than Schubert, his music—quirky, elegant, and irresistibly charming—deserves more recognition. Featuring other exquisite miniatures such as his Romance for piano and Violin and Papillon , this program hopes to highlight his distinctive voice. Join us for a captivating evening where classical elegance meets the poetic fluidity of late Romanticism and early 20th-century harmonies. Whether you’re drawn to Schubert’s radiant craftsmanship or Fauré’s dreamy, intimate soundscapes, From France with Franz offers a journey through time and styles. Reserve your tickets now for this unforgettable musical experience! Program: Franz Schubert: Piano Trio in B-flat Major, D. 898 Gabriel Fauré: Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 120 Gabriel Fauré: Valse Caprice No. 2 in D-flat, Op. 38 Gabriel Fauré: Romance for Violin and Piano, Op. 28 Gabriel Fauré: Papillon, Op. 77 Program may be subject to change. Chiang Yu-Heng "Journey of Life" 2024 Singapore Concert | Singapore

ENDED
Singapore
Concerts
After a decade-long hiatus, renowned Mandarin singer Chiang Yu-Heng is finally returning to Singapore. On September 15, 2024 (Sunday), at 8 PM, Chiang Yu-Heng will hold his "Journey of Life Concert" at the Resorts World Ballroom, Resorts World Convention Centre in Sentosa, Singapore. Since his debut, Chiang Yu-Heng has released nearly 34 albums, including personal albums, hit songs, and compilations. Each classic song showcases his enduring charm in the Mandarin music scene. Chiang Yu-Heng officially debuted in 1984 with his first solo album, "孤独之旅". In 1985, he received his first nomination for Best Male Singer at the Golden Voice Awards with the album "但愿长醉",becoming a focal point in the Mandarin music world. In 1989, he released the highly anticipated album "多年以后·再回首",with the title track "再回首" becoming famous after he performed it at the 1991 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, gaining significant fame in China. In November 1992, he won the Best Vocal Album Award at the 3rd Golden Melody Awards with his album "一个人",marking another milestone in his career. In November 2004, he was invited to the United States to attend the 10th Anniversary Gala of the Chinese-language radio station AM1300 in Los Angeles, where he won multiple awards, including "Asia's Most Popular Artist." Chiang Yu-Heng's songs have accompanied many people throughout their lives, not just with melodies but with deeply touching emotional stories. From "再回首" and "驿动的心" to "梅花三弄" and "跟往事干杯",each song seems to record a segment of youthful time. His singing always exudes a sense of loneliness, melancholy, and wistfulness, which, although not in line with modern trends, deeply strikes the vulnerable chords in the hearts of modern listeners. His music never tires; rather, it soothes the weariness of our souls like a gentle breeze. "It turns out, there is a Chiang Yu-Heng song for every part of my life" may well express the sentiment of many because Chiang Yu-Heng's music writes a piece of the sky that belongs to each of us. At the "Journey of Life Concert" concert, Chiang Yu-Heng will perform numerous classic songs, including "再回首","梅花三弄","跟往事干杯", "最后的温柔", "多年以后", "驿动的心", and "女人的选择", allowing fans to savor these precious classic pieces. Chiang Yu-Heng's unique voice will touch fans of all ages, leading everyone to relive those beautiful and profound memories.

BETWEEN DECLARATIONS AND DREAMS: ART OF SOUTHEAST ASIA SINCE THE 19TH CENTURY | National Gallery Singapore

ENDED
Singapore
Exhibitions
Housed in the former Supreme Court building, the UOB Southeast Asia Gallery features over 300 artworks that trace shared artistic impulses across Southeast Asia. Beginning in the mid-19th century, the exhibition navigates Southeast Asia’s art history as an ongoing encounter with the new, as artists across the region negotiate the meaning of art and seek to reinvent vernacular expressions and aesthetics. Presented largely chronologically and interspersed with key turning points in artistic sensibilities, the exhibition also identifies how art is inextricably linked to the region’s turbulent social and political history. The exhibition owes its title to Chairil Anwar, one of Indonesia’s most cherished poets. In his 1948 poem Krawang-Bekasi, Chairil Anwar lamented the massacre of villagers by Dutch colonial troops in West Java, giving vent to the desire for national independence at the time. This line can also be said of the experience of many artists in the region, caught between manifesto and dream, personal and political. The curatorial narrative explores four themed locations in roughly chronological order, each of which critically examines common artistic impulses in the region during each period: Authority and Anxiety, Imagining the Nation and the Self, Performing the Nation, and Redefining Art.
