the date we stay was a new year eve, the traditional Japanese will stay at home but the staffs are still very professional and friendly, restaurant is opened freely for resident which bring the food from outside. It was good to and highly recommended

Super convenient, the hotel is located two minute walk from Takayama station on the way it is fully covered so there’s no worry during a snowstorm like when I was there. Service was also amazing staff met the guest with a smile and when I didn’t have an umbrella, I was offered umbrellas for loan straightaway for free. The hotel also has its own Onsen and it was very convenient to see it crowdedness through the TV in your own room. There’s also a rest area where you can enjoy the view of Takayama from the top of the building and a foot spa for those who can’t do the full body hot spring which is very good for people.

One of my favorite stays! Check-in was easy although required to fill some digital form on the hotel tablet. The room was very spacious. Well maintained and clean. Gorgeous view of the town from the window. There are free male/female public baths in this hotel which swaps in between timings! Love the public bath it was a good experience. I also am appreciative of the free coffee and tea machine, and the Hoshizaki water dispenser at the lobby area. Location is extremely convenient, less than 5 minutes walk from Takayama Station and the Bus Centre as well. Only thing is the walk to the hotel from the station is not sheltered so might be troublesome if raining. Convenience stores and plenty local food shops around the hotel area too. Would definitely come back again if ever visiting Takayama.

The hotel is large and spacious, with three interconnected buildings featuring an onsen, or hot spring, on the sixth floor. The breakfast room's capacity is somewhat limited; we were seated on the third floor, a ballroom repurposed for breakfast, while the typical restaurant is on the second floor. Although the food is the same, the third-floor location lacks the ambiance and view of the second floor. While I understand that the hotel has many guests during peak hours, allowing guests to choose their seating would be preferable. We are not in a rush and are willing to wait; Japanese guests tend to eat quickly anyway. The room and hot spring were satisfactory, though unremarkable. The hotel's location is not convenient to the train station. If you are traveling by train, this should be considered, even though a shuttle bus runs hourly.

Friendly and helpful staff which capable to communicate with English.. breakfast is tasty but it would be better if they offer more choices.. oh ya not to mentioned the parking area is big and the children had a great time playing snow at the safe area as the car was not so many at the point of time

I especially want to praise the front desk lady that day, because we lost something at the previous hotel the night before, and the hotel's telephone customer service could only speak Japanese, so we couldn't communicate. The front desk lady of this hotel was very patient in helping us. It took up a lot of his time, but she was always very enthusiastic. The hotel also offers indoor and outdoor hot springs, and the restaurant in the hotel also serves good food. The breakfast in the morning was also delicious with a lot of variety. It was a very pleasant stay experience.

To make matters worse, the necessary cutlery for different courses was repeatedly overlooked, which detracted from the overall dining experience. The food itself was unremarkable and didn’t compare to what other hot spring hotels typically offer. The private onsen also posed a challenge. The water switch was broken, leaving no way to adjust the temperature or water flow, resulting in water that was uncomfortably hot throughout our stay. Breakfast the next morning was very basic and lacked the variety or creativity I’ve come to expect from similar establishments. Overall, the hotel did not live up to the standards I’ve experienced elsewhere and left much room for improvement.

LOVE this place!!! Room is clean and spacious, the beddings ever so soft and comfortable. They fed us very well during our stay too!!! Love those little deco resembling the grass houses. So cute!! Look at the view we had at breakfast!!! All staff speak very good English, all extremely attentive and sweet. They give out free ramen and popsicles for late evening snacks and yogurt drinks around breakfast time too. Very pleasant stay I must say. Would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.

This hotel exceeded our expectation! It is very near the Nohi Bus station and the JR Takayama station (3-5 min walk). Although we just stayed overnight, we had a memorable experience in Takayama Ouan. The hotel has a lot of freebies for their guests. They have a booth in the lobby where guests can get free brewed coffee, hot tea, and green lemon iced tea. They also provide free socks since the hotel have tatami flooring. What we also loved about this hotel is the onsen (separate public onsen for male and female, and 3 private onsen). They also have a freezer where guests can get free iced cream after bathing. During past 9 pm, they also have free ramen for their guests. The room is spacious, and the view from our window is also nice (the roads and establishments covered with snow). Aside from the free stuff and great amenities, we also appreciate the kind and friendly staff members. We accidentally lost the luggage claim tag (and we are willing to pay for it) but they didn't charge us anything. When we go back to Takayama, we will definitely stay here again.

Stay at Hanajoan Main Building, which is known as the No.1 hot spring in the mountains. (Opened in 1993) Free cars will pick you up from the bus station or high-speed rail station. A welcome drum will be played in the lobby upon check-in, and snow boots will be thoughtfully prepared for guests to wear when going out. The lobby is filled with dolls arranged like a mountain, with a strong Japanese style. The room has an open-air bath and a small study room (unfortunately, people who come to take a bath probably don't have time to use the study room. There is Ishibashi no Yu on the first floor of the main building, a viewing bath on the 7th floor of the annex, and a bath for women only. Dinner is Japanese and Western. Choose Japanese food, it's delicious and filling. The double room comes with 4 store exchange coupons, which can be exchanged for 2 cans of Alpine milk and 2 ice creams.

An amazing ryokan experience with very attentive service by Lai, Teddy and the team. While we had an unfortunate issue with the bath tub in one of our rooms, the team was quick to attend to it. They even offered us an upgrade to a very beautiful room with an ensuite private onsen and covered our drinks for dinner. Very appreciative of the team for going out of the way in their service recovery and helped us to enjoy our ryokan experience with many wonderful memories. Looking forward to stay at the Honjin Hiranoya Bekkan during our next visit to Takayama :)

The hotel is near to JR Takayama which is very convenient. The onsen in the hotel is good too.

Hotel is very beautiful, it is near the bus station. Lobby has very beautiful view, Japanese style, it is wonderful. I also like the dinner and breakfast very much. The Onsen also nice.

the place is famous, for thailand theater shows, foods in many varieties but cant say good. when we check in we are greet by a front desk clerk,with no smile, and tired face.and since i was a foreigner but good in japanese, communication did not go so well though he is not nice explaning everything. but the foreigners workin there is so nice. the ofuro is good but can say not what we expect. in the morning we check out staff were all good and smiling.

The hotel shuttle bus will drive to pick up and drop off guests according to the number of guests. The service staff are very friendly. The food has a variety of choices and tastes good. A small but exquisite hotel with a large room. We booked a room with dinner and breakfast included. The hot spring pool is not big but it is enough to soak in. After all, the number of people staying is limited. There are pick-up and drop-off facilities, which makes the experience very good.

The food is delicious. The location is located under Hot Spring Street, which is very convenient. It's not too far from the station. There is a car to pick you up and you can make a reservation in advance. Rooms with open-air baths are nice and comfortable Clean environment Good service attitude

It was a very interesting Japanese inn experience. Due to heavy rain affecting JR operations, we arrived at Gero a little late and thought we might not be able to get through. Ctrip and the hotel were very responsible and contacted us very early on the day. We could communicate with the hotel in English via email and the response was timely. Guests arriving between 1:00-6:00 pm can take a taxi to the hotel for free, and there is no need to make an appointment. You can just take it at the station. The hotel also pays for the station delivery when checking out. The hotel's dinner and breakfast are very attentive, exquisite and rich, with fresh ingredients, especially some specialties from the Hida area, and the service is also very professional and considerate. Our room does not have a private bath, but the public bath is equivalent to a private bath, and there is no one indoors or outdoors. Although the mattress in the Japanese room is soft, it does not feel tiring to lie on it. The only problem is that the room cannot open the window, so fresh air cannot come in.

This is my second stay in Gero. The first time I stayed at Yunoshimakan, which is the most popular in the country, I noticed this hotel on the opposite mountain when I checked in. If you want to go to Gero Onsen Street or the station, you can ask the hotel attendant to drive there at any time and make an appointment to return to the hotel in advance. The driver will wait at the station on time, and these are free. Second, the hotel’s service is still very good, but the disadvantage is that English is not good. There is only one girl who is Indian and can speak simple English. The other waiters can only communicate in Japanese. The hotel has no waiters who can speak Chinese. Personally I feel that I should book a private soup, because the waiter said that the public hot spring is not open in the morning, which means that I can’t enjoy it on the morning of check-out, and the private soup is still OK. In terms of meals, because we chose to eat out, we only booked breakfast. Each hot spring hotel tastes the same, and the price is not necessary. Finally, I found on major travel software that some of the hotel’s names were Songyue and some were Zhangyue, but in fact, this hotel only has a Japanese name, which translates to a string of Japanese words called Tonight Starry Sky or something. In short, it is worth recommending and worth coming again.

Excellent! Very satisfied for this onsen hotel!! Definitely recommend this accommodation to friends and family. Everything is over expectation: services, facilities, room, public bath (onsen), food, and all. One drawback would be language barrier between some staff, but they really trying to communicate with us which is impressive. Also, there is a free shuttle bus service between train station and hotel during daytime, very convenient. Tips for me is to book this hotel on weekdays, it is half price cheaper than weekends or holidays.

Stayed there for two nights. In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20). I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no.

It takes about 15 minutes to walk to Gifu Park, and there is a cable car directly to Gifu Castle. The scenery is nice and worth a visit. The hotel is far from the station and you need to take a taxi. The breakfast tastes good, but it is sometimes out of stock.

The photo is taken at a wide angle, and the actual space is OK, but the window is next to the building next door, and the room is next to the elevator, so it is noisy. I stayed here on a solo trip. The front desk staff were very polite. The facilities are a little old, but I think it's worth the price. However, the noise from the hallway is a bit annoying.
