Situated in the picturesque village-like suburb of Llandaff just north of central Cardiff, Llandaff Cathedral sits on one of the oldest Christian sites in Great Britain. Built on grounds originally settled in the 6th century by Saint Teilo, the current cathedral features a striking mix of medieval Norman engineering and bold post-WWII modernism. Highlights of the Cathedral · The West Front & Norman Doorways: Dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries, the cathedral features an elegant Early English facade flanked by towering stone spires and preserved Norman doorways. · Epstein’s "Christ in Majesty": After severe bomb damage during the 1941 Cardiff Blitz, architect George Pace led a modern restoration anchored by Sir Jacob Epstein’s famous aluminum statue of Christ suspended high above the nave on a concrete arch. · Pre-Raphaelite Masterpieces: The interior houses notable artistic treasures, including Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s intricate triptych altarpiece, "The Seed of David". · Historic Tombs & Chapels: The tranquil site contains centuries-old monuments, including the medieval tomb of Saint Teilo and the dedicated Welch Regiment Chapel. Tips for Your Trip Llandaff Cathedral is easily reached from central Cardiff via a short bus ride or a 10-minute taxi. Entrance is free, though donations for site maintenance are welcomed. After touring the nave, take a stroll through the surrounding green Cathedral Close down to the nearby riverbank path along the River Taff. #crowdfreelandmarks #travel2026 #uktrip

Lovely park to walk. I like the autumnal vibes here with the trees and foliage changing colours. It's like something out of an oil painting. This park is near the river so you can walk along it or enjoy the nature. It's not the biggest park but easy to casually walk around and soak up the fresh air. You'll likely see lots of dog walkers as it's pet friendly. Lots of benches around to sit and chill out or just enjoy the park. Check out the war memorial statues and monuments too and take a moment to reflect. It's downtown so super easy to get to and it's well connected to the buses and trains. #wales #travel #uk #nature #park
Joe04121Absolutely amazing place. Quite amazing to see such a huge castle next to a town. It's beautiful to walk and makes great photo opportunities. Right next to Caerphilly bus station.
Joe0412An amazing castle and visiting the grounds was a treat. Full of history and going through the surroundings, it wasn't repetitive and not boring at all. I absolutely loved it and it's was very interesting. I love the Arab Room and the war shelters. Reasonable priced tickets compared to the Royal castle prices. I highly recommend this visit for all ages. The staff were friendly and helpful. I love Cardiff. It's so refreshing compared to London.
Mel2024For a history lover, this is a wonderful place to visit. The people working here know their history and want to share that knowledge. It is mostly outdoors so try to go when it's not raining.
