Edinburgh Where to Stay

Edinburgh is a city rich in history and culture, offering a diverse array of accommodation options across its distinct neighborhoods.

Edinburgh Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Edinburgh is during the summer months of June to August, when the city is vibrant with festivals and the weather is generally warmer. This period includes the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, which is a major draw for visitors.

Edinburgh Travel Tips

1. Book Edinburgh Castle Tickets in Advance: Edinburgh Castle is a popular attraction. To avoid long queues and potential disappointment, book your tickets online in advance. Tickets often sell out, especially during peak summer months and festivals. 2. Check Arthur's Seat Conditions: If you plan to hike Arthur's Seat, check the weather conditions and wear appropriate footwear as the path can be slippery and steep. Bring water, a snack, and a jacket as it can be windy at the top. There are several routes to the summit, so choose one that matches your fitness level.

Edinburgh Useful Guide

Ash_bd2uk:“I recently visited Edinburgh Castle with my family, and it was an amazing experience. Set high on Castle Rock, the panoramic views over the city are breathtaking. The castle is packed with history – from the Crown Jewels and Stone of Destiny to the magnificent Great Hall. The exhibits are well-presented, and the audio guide brings the stories to life. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. While it was busy, there’s plenty of space to explore and capture great photos. Walking through the castle grounds felt like stepping back in time, and the mix of history, architecture, and scenery is truly impressive. A must-see in Edinburgh – perfect for families, history lovers, and anyone who wants to experience Scotland’s heritage up close. We left with wonderful memories and a deeper appreciation for this iconic landmark.”

When I walk in, the Botticelli painting "Madonna Worshiping the Child Jesus" is worth appreciating in the middle of the left side. The delicate description of this work is placed in the most central position. Next to it is the work of Leonardo da Vinci, but this one is rarely seen. It is his unfinished work, and later generations added some background. Impressionism on the fourth floor: two works of Van Gogh from different periods, Gauguin's most famous works, but my favorite are several landscapes by Cezanne, which have the flavor of watercolor and are unique. The large natural portrait of Diego by Degas is also the first time I have seen a different Degas work. I personally think Monet is the most ordinary in an exhibition hall. Most visitors only pay attention to Monet and Van Gogh...”
