AT A GLANCE The Balla Lompoa Museum is a reconstruction of the royal palace of Gowa which was founded during the reign of the 31st King of Gowa, I Mangngi-mangngi Daeng Matutu, in 1936. In the Makassar language, Balla Lompoa means big house or grand house. . The architecture of this museum building is in the form of a typical Bugis house, namely a house on stilts, with a ladder more than two meters high to enter the terrace room. The whole building is made of ironwood or ironwood. The building is located in a one-hectare complex bordered by a high wall.”
