“gemstone of Camiguin Island”
Mantigue Island is a very small island located of the coast of volcanic island province of Camiguin, it is about 4 hectares of greenery fringed with a gleaming white beach of powdery coral sand.
you can reach here by riding a small pump boat usually tourists only spend hours here. i highly recommend you to spend a day here, sunbathing, relaxing, swimming and snorkeling or even meditating. it’s the best place to do it. trust me.

Sometimes called the Old Church Ruins, the Guiob Church Ruins or locally known as Ruins of Old Spanish Church was what was left from the old church of the island’s Spanish era capital called Cotta Bato. It was constructed in the 16th century but it met its destruction a century later. On May 13, 1871, the capital’s peace was rattled by an intense trembling of the ground brought about by the rumbling of a nearby volcano, Mt. Vulcan. The earthquake shook the town mercilessly until houses and other structures were down to rubble. But that wasn’t the end of it. That evening, Mt. Vulcan unleashed its most devastating power when it erupted and destroyed what was left of the town.

It was a constant invitation. The stunning White Island was within view from Paras Beach Resort, where I stayed. Even during lunch, I couldn’t help but be hypnotized by this inviting stretch of white sand not very far from the resort’s beachfront. It wasn’t long until we finally gave in and allowed ourselves to be drawn to this naked, sparkling sand bar. More commonly known as White Island, Medan Island (or Medano Islet) is 10 minutes away from the northern coast of Camiguin. In Barangay Yumbing, boat rentals are available for P480. Resorts also offer their own day tours to this pristine, powdery paradise.
Although it often looks like a boomerang, the island’s shape changes according to the tides. It is uninhabited and there are no permanent concrete structures here — no houses, no towers. Even trees are absent here. It’s just a beautiful dump of fine sand with Mt. Hibok-hibok and Mt. Vulcan as the backdrop. When we arrived, however, there was a tent under which sat a man, who had been renting out big umbrellas to tourists for P50. To be on the safe side, don’t forget to bring hats, sunglasses, and sunblock, of course.
