The temple with this garden is a temple built about 400 years ago by the founder of the clan, Hidemune Date, inviting Kazuhisa Koten to mourn his real mother, Ryusenjiden. Initially, it was called Hakuunzan Ryusenji Temple, but it was renamed "Jomyozan Tokakuji" from the posthumous Buddhist name because it became the graveyard of Hidemune himself.
