Pengzhou Longmen Mountain Earthquake Site Park

The Earthquake Relic Park built to commemorate the Wenchuan earthquake includes the widely circulated Xiaoyudong Broken Bridge Site, the Sino-French Bridge Broken Bridge, and the Bailu Upper Academy Catholic Church Site. Xiaoyudong Town will serve as the popular science area of this earthquake site park, and the Xiaoyudong Bridge, which records the power of the earthquake, will become the starting point of the earthquake site park. Xiaoyudong Broken Bridge Xiaoyudong Bridge is located in Xiaoyudong Town, Pengzhou, with a total length of 187 meters and a width of 12 meters. It is a steel frame arch bridge. During the Wenchuan earthquake, the Xiaoyudong Bridge, which was located on the fault zone, collapsed and became impassable. Now there is a blue sculpture standing at the head of the Pengzhou side of the Xiaoyudong Bridge. It is 5 meters high, 12 meters wide, and 1 meter thick. It has an all-steel structure. The white text on the surface of the sculpture includes the introduction of the Wenchuan earthquake, the damage to Pengzhou and the Xiaoyudong Bridge that collapsed in the earthquake. The Old Street of Bailu Town, Pengzhou City, Bailu Town, is also on the fault zone of the Wenchuan earthquake. During the earthquake, the section of the old street by the river was lifted instantly. It turned out that a flat street was staggered up and down by more than 3 meters, and a large number of houses were damaged. Bailu Upper Academy was built by French missionaries in 1908 to train Chinese Catholic clergy. After 1949, the Upper Academy basically ceased to function as a place of worship. During the Wenchuan earthquake, this century-old relic collapsed in just eight seconds. The rubble became mountains, the wooden pillars were interlaced, the whole white stone gate broke into a trapezoid, and only the bottom of the thick semi-cylindrical gate pillar remained. The plan will be to rebuild the original site. The Sino-French Bridge is a stone double-arch bridge. It was designed and constructed by Yuxiasong (French) when he was the president of Bailu Lower Academy. The local people named the bridge "Sino-French Bridge". In the earthquake of 5.12, the bridge was severely damaged, and the residual bridge with only one hole remained and could not pass through. Yinchang Valley The beautiful Yinchang Valley was severely damaged in the Wenchuan earthquake, and the former scenery of Yinchang Valley no longer exists. Efforts are underway to restore and rebuild.
