Battle Hill Farm Forest Park

The 500-hectare Battle Mountain Farm Forest Park brings together a rich history of Maori, rolling farms and a swampy wetland ravine. Several of these forests are still well-preserved today and are located near the paddocks in front of the park. The six walking trails are easy and difficult, and it takes 15 minutes to 4 hours to walk the whole way. Several walking trails to the top of Battle Mountain start from a forested gully, which overlooks the scenery below the valley and the Pawa Tahanui Bay. The three mountain bike trails are suitable for climbers of different physical abilities and experiences. The ride takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours. There are many campsites near shallow streams and local forest reserves, surrounded by trees. Battle Mountain Farm Forest Park is located north of Wellington. It can be reached via Highway 58 connecting Plymerton to Hutt Valley. From August to October each year, farm areas in some parks are closed for lambing. But the main walkway will still be open to the public.
