The Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House

Located a bit off the beaten path, way up over the greater part of Honolulu on scenic Mt. Tantalus, this under-appreciated facility is home to a sizable collection of modern art in a pretty setting. Surrounded by landscaped gardens which are surrounded themselves by the natural garden that is a pristine Hawaiian jungle, this elevated Museum has works from renowned contemporary artists like Robert Arneson, George Rickey, and Viola Frey. They provide indoor exhibits as well as more open air ones, an art workshop for kids, and a well stocked gift shop/art gallery. Vistors are welcomed to join guided tours or check out the facility themselves. Unlike any other attraction on Oahu, the Contemporary Museum is an amazing place to visit.
