The church in Fukue, the largest town in Goto, is a chalk concrete church, built in April 1914 (Taisho 3), and the current church was dedicated on April 25, 1962 (Showa 37). During the 'Fukue great fire' that occurred on September 26 of the same year, only the cathedral was miraculously destroyed even though it was in the central area where the city was burned down at once.
